So I just had this thought here late at night. I simply do not have the room for all the wood working tools I would love to have. Most houses in my city are quite small and, if your lucky, you get a 1 car garage. So I'm thinking it sure would be nice if there was somewhere I could go to have access to all these tools. So why don't I make one? Open up a shop where you can pay to go in and have every tool imaginable!? Pay for a day, buy a week membership, monthly, yearly? Only problem I see is retards that don't know how to use the tools hurting themselves. Using the tools incorrectly and damaging them. I'm sure some places like this exist out there but not where I live, thoughts?

Hey guys. I was wondering how I could make a crowning file for rounding frets after leveling them. I have a backup bass that I'm using and it's totally uneven up and down the fucking neck. Going by the design of this portable crowning file; I should be able to just a sheet of metal at a certain thickness and just stick sandpaper in there. What do you think about this idea? Any advice on making something like this yourself? Oh, and another thing. I'm totally broke.

Hello. I wasn't sure where to talk about this but figured this would be the best place. I need know something about patents. I want to patent something, but a public domain, so some other asshole doesn't try to steal it. Doing a bit of search I found this http://www.publicdomainideas.org, and it seems exactly what I'm looking for, but it's almost too good to be true. What do you guys think?

Sup /diy/ never been here before, have an idea I would like to put into action: I have an image- it's pic related. What I want to do is break the image into 9 or 16 separate pages in a 3/3 or 4/4 frame, then stick them up on my wall with some motivational quotes thrown in. The thing is, I want to stick them on with a consistent space in between each page. This means the edges of one page don't exactly match the edges of the next page- the space in between the pages is cropped out of the picture, so to speak. How do I do this? If you guys want, I can illustrate what I mean through a series of photographs. Thanks guys

How do I make a latex mask of a Nosferatu? Or more specifically, how do I make myself look like a Nosferatu vampire? I would rather not look cheesy. So I need some good suggestions. Is making a latex mask hard? How do you do it? Thanks in advance.

I'm really worried about my future. it's time for me to pick a career path to study for but I don't know what's gonna be a bullshit degree in 4-8 years. I was thinking engineering but I heard here its a dying market. I am also pretty good at graphic design, and enjoy it but don't know how hard a market it will be to break into. What are some safe areas to study that can almost guarantee me a job in the future?

So I want to build a house on my families property. It's about 10 acres in the mountains in norther CA gold country. Fucking beautiful and a decent sized creek basically bisects it. huge tailing piles are left over from the days of dredging. like 20 foot tall bigass hills of rounded rocks, could be used as building materials for the more artsy stuff but dont seem great to build on. Behind these hills is flat ground (that I am fairly certain is safe from the 100 year flood level, but if not I have a neighbor with a solution I could copy) and this leads to a fairly sheer cliff with a manzenita grove close to it. this i s where a neighbors road runs close to. most of the whole place is forested with huge ass pine and the occasional oak. we get snow in winter only occasionally but we got like a foot last year. so I want to build a house on that flat part past the tailing piles and get an easment to the top of the ciff. The house will be built partially underground and into the cliff with the living stuff lower, and the entrence to the house up on top of the cliff for a place to put a car and shit. I want your opinion on all of it but these next things especially hydro electric power some use for the damn mine entrance nearby (unexplored and I've not got a guy with the knowledge to not risk my life doing that yet) and heating the place via water pipes run through a massive bio heat generating compost pile. also may dump some pics from one of /v/s oddly decent completely off topic threads

/diy/, I'm going to be moving out soon. My brother is buying a house near my school and is willing to rent me a room for ~$205 a month. I'm looking to recreate my lifestyle when I move; leave behind clutter and bad habits, and start over. What are your tips for moving out for the first real time (dormed my first year of school and it was different but it didn't really count).

Glassblowers on /diy/? Friend of mine went to a 6 month glassblowing apprenticeship with syn glass, since moved into my house on some property up innawoods and we are getting a shop set up. We've got two hand made bench torches that are capable of using hydrogen for working quartz and two hand torches for when we eventually have the money for a lathe. We just picked up some equipment for our shop today, a 100lb/25gallon propane tank and a shop heater: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BucCYFH0SLo Tomorrow when its light out I am going to do a video on the four torches we have to work with. So my question is, if you are a glass blower, how did you set up your shop? What sort of equipment do you work with? How is your shop laid out? are you self employed? Also glass blowing general discussion.
