My girlfriend absolutely refuses me to let me film our merry frolicking, so I've decided to install cameras here and there. What's the best way to do it? I have a relatively large mirror in my room. Would it be too hard to install a cam behind it? Also, what kind of cam would do the trick? i guess I'll need to replace the mirror too, but I don't know what kind of special mirror would work. Basically I just know what I want but I don't really know what to buy: I want several hidden cameras strategically positioned in my room to capture as many angles as possible and decent to good (if possible, great) quality.

So, im building a new gaming PC and i have no Desktop for it and they are really "expensive" (aka not worth the money) and i decided i could make my own. Also, when i was looking for a case i didnt found any i liked. So, why not make a Desktop that includes a "case? This is what i ended designing but i have a few noobish questions. I will explain the design first. The table is meant to be 1300mm x 550mm, that would be the "workspace" The small rectangle on the left is a "window" made of acrilic so you can have a nice view of the computer parts. The two smaller squares are holes for 120mm fans. The "case" is 500x450mm, pretty standard size for a case. It's 50mm shorter than the top because it has the exhaust fan on the rear + the PSU, and it needs space to "breath" 1. Is 75cm high enough for a workstation? i decided that heigh just by sitting on a chair and saying "ok, here is nice, 75cm then". It's meant so i can keep a 90° arm angle. 2. What should i use to stick the pieces togheter? I dont think that glue will do the work, specially at the right side. The wood width is 15mm and i dont know if nails would help. 3. What can i use to "seal" the acrilic window that doesnt looks like shit? Silicon looks awful but it would be tragic to spill some drink over the MoBo 3.

Does anyone know much about machinima? I'm trying to produce/direct a live-action short film using machinima as an animation method. Story starts with a group of kids going into an arcade and going to play a videogame and then cutting to the machinima once they start playing, with characters being Kanye West, Gandhi, Obama, Jesus, an American Flag guy, an astronaut, and santa claus with armies of corporate logo characters working for the american flag guy and then an army of everyday looking people mixed in with a lot of priests and wizard looking guys.

making a steam turbine. no pics for this one just workin' on mah shopping list. So far I have 3" pvc tubing, welding steel sheeting and a hollow steel rod. I'm thinking of converting an old propane tank into a hot water tank, but I'm going to test with paint gun compressor first. I'm going to cut out reasonably circular disks roughly 2 7/8" diameter and cut down from the rim towards the center a certain distance, maybe 1 1/4" and bend the slats with pliers. I'm also going to cut out an X shape structure to mount the shaft inside the PVC. All I need is bearings, a way other than welding (although I could solder or use molten zinc) to mount the blades to the shaft, and a way to attach a motor to the shaft to generate POWERRRRRRRRRR! Any advice or ideas?

So I'm trying to figure out how this coupling system works, but there's one thing I don't understand. How does the internal valve (piston device) in the twisting part not twist along with the motion of the outer collar? Here's an animation as well https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fHEFnJNmzxk&feature=relmfu

Let's pretend for a second that I'd like to tackle the project of making a portable nes emulator. >inb4 download one, use phone, buy nes, etc does /diy/ think this chip will do the job appropriately? I ask only because I have it and I'm only using parts scavenged from old electronics. I plan to port an emulator to a mini-system that i'll create. Part number is mx10e8050iqc Your thoughts?

Would /diy/ be the correct place to discuss woodworking? I don't have any questions, just asking for future reference.

I'm having a sort of crisis on my windowsill. The leaves of my basil plant have turned into this. Can anyone identify what's wrong? I would like to save the plant, if possible. I have a mint and jade plant potted in the same soil and both are doing fine.

hey /diy/ hoping to get some input. i've been making/destroying things since i was 12, but now that im older i want to get more serious about it, what tool should i buy first? i would like to start making things like shelves, hidden compartment boxes, chess tables/pieces chainmail and enclosures to put stuff in like an rfid chip or something. I would like to be able to buy or make a laser cutter but its out of budget for now so what should i get? two tools i have right now is a $20 dollar chinese dremel knock off and a rigid jigsaw budget is maybe 100-150 a month <pic related what are you thoughts on it

/diy/, I'm looking for creative insight. I'm starting with rough ideas for a cosplay costume for the future. However, it's not the costume itself that I have an issue with. I would love to pair the costume with special-effects type magic. Flashy is better. It should, ideally, be small enough to be worn, carried, or mounted to something on my clothing, be harmless, and easily repeated/many uses. Also, the more of these I could put to use the better. While I'm still far off from fully starting the project, some ideas would be wonderful. For the intents and purposes of creativity, I'll consider anything.

What are the best certificates to get to put you into a job that will actually pay enough to cover living expenses and still leave you with enough time to study towards something further? I'm tired of being disposable I want to be able to count on a job while I undertake school and living on my own.

http://www.bewareofimages.com/ In 1929, the Belgian artist Rene Magritte created The Treachery of Images. The painting showed a pipe, and under it the paradoxical inscription This is not a pipe. When it was pointed out to him that what he had created was in fact a pipe, Magritte replied "OK, you should try filling it with tobacco then". Stated 10 years before the infamous WWII propaganda campaigns, Magritte's warning was clear: Beware of the seductive and deceptive power of images. Religious institutions, governments and corporations have mastered this power and exploit it to advance their interests. Unfortunately, these practices are at the root of today's social, ecological and financial problems; and as representation technologies become more sophisticated, their sources more centralized and their reach broader, the problems are bound to become more challenging. BEWARE OF IMAGES is a feature-length, animated documentary about the history of visual representation. The movie explores the intricate relationship between the technology, regulation and social effects of mass media. Its aim is to serve as an educational and entertaining media literacy tool that can be enjoyed by everyone.
