Hey /diy/, this seems to be the best board to ask this question since /n/ really doesn't know much about survival. I'm in the final stages of planning my cross country bike ride. I plan on leaving on December 1st, embracing the cold since I don't work well in heat, and ride from New Jersey to San Francisco. Pic is related, not my exact route, but I do plan on stopping in several of the cities that line goes through. I've been training for over a year now, so physically I'm ready. However, I have little to no experience in survival, a trait I will obviously need. I have hiked before and I do know how to set up a camp and make a campfire and use a makeshift stove to cook canned food, however the rest (finding a place to sleep, finding food if I run out, making a bed) I'm pretty clueless. I don't want to stay in any hotels/motels, I'm trying to live completely independent. What tips can you give me on survival? Also, if you're in any of the states that line is going through I'd be happy to make a stop and say hello if you're on the path. Thanks in advance!

Assuming you got some land with woods on them that you are allowed to do what you want with, how would you go about building a cabin? A proper one that shield you from the elements of all seasons.

Hey /diy/ I want to brew beer. I'm not sure where to start. Can I find most of the supplies separately or just buy a kit, and if so what's the best deal? Any info, websites, or buyer's guides would be great, Thanks.

Old school sony xm 4045 + sony XEC-700 possible wiring

I am thinking of wiring some tweeters to the high pass side and my mids to the low pass side. Would this work? head unit > front RCA outputs > highs output on sony xec to the high pass side of the amp > mids output to the low pass side of the amp > tweeters on high pass > mids on low pass Mid channel on the crossover has flat, 70, 100 and 140 on the high pass, and 2.4k, 3.5k, 5k and flat on the low pass. I figured 140 on high and 2.4k on low would work well for the mids. Just running stock for now. Would later get some decent mids but I see no reason to upgrade for now. I assume keeping the 80hz/flat switch on the amp to flat would be ideal.

I know it's a bit late, given we're close to halfway through November, but can we have a carving thread? I'd like to see what interesting stuff you all saw, or share patterns and stuff for next year. Pic related, I saw these when I took my niece trick or treating.

Doing some DIY and forgot how springs work. If a spring has a constant k, and I compress it distance d. When and object mass m is pushed by the spring. Is the velocity of it at release going to be kd/m?
