Does anyone have any experience with public storage? I'm considering gettin' a locker for one of a couple possible uses. a. I've heard some facilities will let you work in them, and as an artist/propmaker that would be useful to have workspace since I live in an 8x10 walk in closet with no real personal space. B. I was considering getting one and putting a treadmill/power rack in there and just going there to work out in privacy. For 80 bucks though, maybe a gym membership is cheaper or I could convince the people I rent from to let me put mine in the garage. C. I rent a walk in closet at my parents' house that is smaller than a storage unit, and I pay 200, for 80 bucks I'd think about living in a storage unit in a place that didn't care as much. I've heard some units contain electrical outlets for people who use it as a workspace. Does anyone know anything about living out of a storage unit, and are there any tips or alternatives?

I want to make a bacon drive The idea is that it'd fit in the disk drive slot of the computer, and it'd be able to slow-cook bacon. To deal with the heat problem, i'd have to probably coat the thing in ceramic, but what about the power? I was planing on using heated coils, but I have no idea if it'll be able to draw enough from the CPU to actually cook meat, no matter how thin.

Sup, /diy/. Wanting to make my own bed as the one I sleep in currently is creaky as shit. Looking for guides or how-to's for making a low bed, specifically a Japanese style. Can anybody help with this? Thanks.

I do not know where else to post this question, but I thought /diy/ would be most suitable, seeing as you all know building materials. I am translating a book from Faroese (the language of the Faroe Islands) to English, that my great-grandfather wrote in the 1930's. It is about traditional Faroese architecture and building styles. Practically a (then) modern take on old viking and settler buildings. Okay, so my question is this. What do you call the metallic crumpled roofing, that many modern houses have? I am currently translating a pretty funny statement on ergonomics, beauty in buildings, and the influx of "modern grey blocks, in which people live in". In a joking manner, my great-grandfather called it "rukkujarn", which literally translates to "crumple-tin". I will definitely leave the literal translation in, but I feel like I should put in a footnote, clarifying what he meant. I do realize that cumple-tin is also used as insulation of sorts, but in this book, crumple-tin mainly refers to the butt-ugly roofs of various modern buildings. Also, seeing as this would probably be the only board (other than /tg/) interested in traditional, ergonomic and economically sound architecture, would you like me to post the book, whenever I have finished translating it? I think it is pretty funny, and it gives a lot of insight. The book mainly focuses on how "quantity instead of quality" is bullshit when it comes to houses, that grey blocks (that can barely be called houses) are ruining the "look" of towns and cities, and how people should pull themselves together, and build visually appealing houses that are also ergonomically and economically sound. TL;DR I would like to get an English word for crumpled metal roofing. Also, would you guys be interested in reading a book about a modern take on Nordic architecture?

I am scratch building a DK dedicated arcade machine. I live in Australia and it is too expensive to ship a Sanyo EZ-20. I don't want to get an adapter and i don't have access to a scart tv. Do i use a computer monitor, a tv? Could i swap boards or build my own? Any ideas?

How do I make a makeshift beltclip for my screw gun? I have plenty of clips like this from various tape measures, etc, but I obviously can't put a screw through the battery or drill... will epoxy be tensile enough?

Hello /diy/, I want to remove small scratches from an old laptop before selling it. I found some solutions that seems to work pretty well on Google. Only problem, I have to use Pledge or Brasso to do that and there is no such thing in Europe. So, what are the equivalent over here? Thank for your help.
