Hey /diy/, I have a question concerning sharpening stones and razor blades I got a pretty nice one for christmas and now I want to be manly as hell and shave like it should be. The problem is, it is not nearly sharp enough. Now I think about buying a Sun Tiger Combination Stone, Grit 1000 / 6000. Do you think it will be enough to have 6000 or should I buy another 8000? Also general tipps are very welcome.

Sup' /diy/nosaurs, I'm about to install a curtain in my window, but the shutter box is old af and has those weird plastic things (pic related) Seems like they are not glued to anything, is a good idea to remove them? what are those for?

Ask a guy who works here anything part 4 or 5 or something

Worked in paint, now I work in the backend. >judging you internally edition I don't know why we don't carry mason jars. I do not know why that faucet will cost you $400 while that same brand of equal looking design costs $150. I do know that attempting to fill the gaps in your wood flooring with rope and tar will not end well. >No sir, your order isn't here yet >you ordered items that have to be shipped to the store two hours ago >the fulfillment center is 5 states away, sir. >no sir, if you look at the webpage, it says in big capital letters "online only" on the right hand side of the screen >no we don't carry it in store, it's online only >the reason we don't carry everything from online in our stores is because we don't have room for the 100,000+ products on our website. >no we don't have it at another store, it's online only >no we don't have an equivalent item here >no we don't have it in another color >sure you can speak to my manager, i'll be happy to transfer you HEY BOSS! Have I got good news for you. Well not for you. For me. Because I don't have to talk to this idiot anymore. They want to speak to a supervisor. Yep another online order complaint from some old person who can't read. Have fun, I know I've had my share already!

Multirotor - Quadcopter Thread

The last thread seems to have fallen off /diy/, so I figured I'd start a new one. Here's my small fleet at the moment. From left to right, an RC Logger Eye One Xtreme on a polycarbonate frame and a Lemon RX PPM receiver, a stock Blade Nano QX, and a Blade 200 QX also on a polycarbonate frame and with a battery voltage alarm on top. Now that I've gotten used to working on these things, changing out frame/parts etc, and most importantly flying them, I'm going to assemble one on my own instead of modifying a stock one. Any recommendations for a nice frame to start with? I think I wanna go much larger then these, maybe in the 400mm to 500mm range...

Sup /diy/ Every friday,i organise a dinner meetup with my close family(cousins, aunts etc), and i've got a problem. I own a cat, my nephew's jealous about that and he'd like to own one too,but my sis dosen't want him to. I got to convince her that cats can be smart and domestic animals who aren't useless. I need a wireless device that emits a small -beep- noise upon pressing a button to train my cat to get to various places a.k.a outside, next to his foodbin... The problem is that i'm a completely illeterate faggot about everything that's electronics and such, and as i live in a third world country,i have no tech support to help me in my case. Any suggestions on what i should purchase or make? Sorry for the horrible english,it's not my native language.

I'm not sure if anyone can help me on this, but here goes. There's something knocking against my house when the wind is blowing really hard (always) and I can't figure out what it is. It might be my window or it might be my cable wires outside the house. I go outside and try and find the noise but I can't. I'm not exegerating at all when I say this noise is just like Chinese water torture. every couple minutes it hits my house and won't fucking stop. It keeps going every couple minuyes and I keep staying up stressing about it. I can't even get a few hours of sleep anymore its seriously driving me fucking crazy. Pic related...its one of THOSE

Rings

I want to start making rings as a hobby, or at least make a few of the rings from Dark Souls 2. Would it be better in the long run to use actual metal and materials to craft the rings? If so, what quality metals should I work with? What materials would I need, et cetera. Or the other option I'm thinking of is creating a 3D model of the ring and then using a 3D printer to make it for me. Unfortunately I have no skills in either of these categories. Pic related, but unfortunately there is no in-game model to rip. It seems like a basic design and not as complicated as the other rings.

is this adafruit bitch legit? i like the stuff she sells and i'm aware it's more expensive but i think it's worth the price since everything looks like it's compatible and easier to use and most stuff is all in one place. but i don't want to get ripped of either. but it seems a good start for a beginner. what's the verdict /diy/?

I'm not sure if this fit's here perfectly but it's better than on /3/ I guess. Did you 3D-printed something yet? Do you ever finished bigger projects?

Hi /diy/ My friend has money to get a desktop computer but he doesn't want to build one (I know what you guys will say about that...). He's OK with adding a GPU to the PC he will get, however. /diy/, since I've never built a PC myself, how complicated is the PC building process? Or at the very least, how difficult is it to add a graphics card to a computer? Is there anything I need to check on specifically? Pic slightly unrelated, he is not getting this computer

so I want to take my motorcycle battery and run a USB cable right off the battery. so I can charge my phone and stuff that uses USB right off the bike when its running. I wanna /diy/ this since it seems like a pretty simple electrical job. but I work on motorcycles, I'm not an electrical engineer. my knowledge of putting a circuit together is little to none. SO here's what I have. I have an on-off switch for DC power. I have an LED. I have a 2 amp fuse and fuse holder. I have a bunch of resistors and capacitors. but the resistors seem to be rather small. i'll get to that in a second. and I also have a usb 2.0 cable and port. and a regulator. [most of my stuff came from old electronics - I'm a slight hoarder of possible useful things for projects like so.] So I have a 12 volt 500Ma wall power supply. and that's what I've been using for testing, because I don't have a battery in my project bike at the moment that this is gonna go on. problem is. the regulator is getting way to hot for my liking, I have mini heat sinks I can attach to it, that's not an issue per say. but my resistors are just straight up burning up? How should this circuit be setup? >the LED is to show when the power is on, and active, so I don't leave stuff plugged in and walk away by accident for it to be stolen. >the switch is so I can charge stuff with the bike OFF. and be able to turn it on an off.

I can't seem to remove the centre nut of my lawn mower. As you can see the blades are banged up pretty badly from rocks and probably need replacing entirely but I'm going to give them a sharpen before buying new ones. Anyway, whats the best way to remove that centre nut? Also, how to stop the blades from spinning freely while attempting to remove the centre nut? Thanks han/diy/men.

TL:DR - Vape fag wants to make an Assassins Creed inspired arm case for his new vape pen. Hey /diy/, Picked up a vape pen the other day and wanted to make something to hold it on. Instead of just picking up the around the neck case or keeping it in my pocket, I decided to try and make a case mimicking the hidden blade from Assassins Creed. In short, its going to be a small leather gauntlet, spring loaded so it pops out, and has a small locking mechanism at the bottom that can be undone with the push of the button. Right now the only thing stopping me is how to make a proper locking mechanism with a single button unlock. Pic related, chicken shit drawing of what it'll look like.
