Gas Man Locked My Gas

My Girlfriend is in charge of the gas bill, and she neglected to pay it, even though i had more than enough money to cover it when she did not.
They did what they always do and turned the gas off. I repayed them but they will not come out until the 7th of march to turn the gas on.
I dont really want to live in a <50F house all week, so im going to turn it back on. However ive never seen a lock quite like this one. Im trying to open it while keeping the lock intact. I do not have bolt cutters to cut it off. Ive included me 2 years in mspaint diagram of the lock. The large bulbous end is deep, and the circle below is a diagram of the inside that doesn't show depth really well. Its basically one long rod with a conical end inserted into the bulbous end. around the conical end is a flat metal cone cut into 4ths with a ring around the topcovering 3/4ths. I have never seen this type of lock before. youtube has nothing on this particular lock and i cannot seem to see the ball berrings onit, if it even has any. Any advice or suggestions?

photo flash cap woes

i finally took my old flash gun apart since it broke 2 years? ago. the capacitor kicked the bucket, obviously. that wouldn't be a problem if it was some kind of widely available cap, but its a 1200uF 330V thing, 30mm across and 45 mm high. No luck on mouser or anywhere. The thing is that it needs to be in these dimensions, since it's housed literally in the hinge of the flash.
I could get a 250V replacement, but i'm pretty sure it'd get fried, i could go for a cap in larger dimensions but it'd need to be mounted somehow outside the flash, and that would make it very unwieldy and i'd never be using it.
i'm thinking i'll go for a 1000uF replacement. i mean the cap in the flash is basically just there to store energy. it's not filtering anything, or blocking DC... it'll just store a smaller charge, right?

EV-ing anno 2016

Hi /diy/ers. So my cousin has this old car which cosmetically still looks great and the interior's good too. The engine is beyond fixing because his friends decided to do this themselves to save a few bucks, they shouldn't have. The car has a simple drivetrain, no complex control mechanisms and such.
Anyhow, i've been talking with him to so an EV conversion, I saw some around the web years ago and it sounds like a cool idea. My problem is, if i search for diy EV i come out on obscure and amateuristic fora or i find information that's the least 5 years outdated. Can any of you help me?

So I recently acquired 35 acres of land in southern Colorado butted up against national park land, amidst wilderness.
End game I would like to have all my land enclosed, trying to decide on fencing. I don't know too much about fencing. Deer and elk are prevalent there as well as black bears. I tried looking up methods to keep bears away online, but I guess these tips were all for people who's answer to these problems aren't just putting up a big fucking fence. I'll have a garden, fish, honey, and all sorts of shit bears want in there because bears know what's up and we like the same shit.
Fencing advice and general bear tips are greatly appreciated.
Sound Dampening a room.

I'm curious to see what materials would be of good use for sound dampening a small room, next to two other small rooms.
A Friend moved into the house I am renting and he has an extremely bad snoring problem that's driving two other roommates insane. The space he's living in has no door at the moment and he doesn't care how things look. The only goal is to reduce the sound of snoring reaching the other rooms without costing an arm and a leg.
I'm hearing conflicting advice online ranging from moving blankets to bed foam to carpet and I'm unsure what the best approach would be. I don't want to kick the guy out because he has a snoring problem : /
I was thinking of doing the following:
-Cheap plywood 'door' hinged so he can open/close it.
-foam on the inside of said 'door.'
-3 layer addition to current wall: foam/Cardboard?, plywood, foam/carpet/both?
any advice is welcome, I can give some dimensions and more details in around 14h. Pic related, view looking into where he sleeps.
