Oxy-acetylene for new welders

1 more posts in this thread. [Missing image file: ]
So I've just got a kit with cutting, heating, welding tips, hoses, regulators, etc. My main question is about the tanks themselves, as well as actual welding methods. >better to buy or rent the tanks? >what size tanks are good for most average general use, cutting once in awhile and welding once in awhile? >where to buy or acquire weld rods? I've heard of people using bicycle spokes and other random shit like clothes hangers. >want to try aluminum as well, apparently need flux and a size 000 tip. True?

Dented Stainless Steel Fridge

I've put a dent in my refrigerator right at about eye level. I tried the heat then dry ice method as well as using the suction pull-a-dent thing. It looks a lot better than when i started but is still noticeable. Is there anything more to try besides repeating those methods? Is this repairable by a professional or am stuck with buying a new door?

I have a kitchen set up similar to this one, except my stove is on the unattached bar section of the counter. How much of a challenge would it be to move that entire section forward about 3 feet? I'm planning on redoing the counter tops at the same time. Trying to figure out how big of an undertaking it would be.

Hey, I want to steal books because I want to read and have no money. When it comes to "detectors" at store entrances, how do they actually work? At least when it comes to books, do they detect them and if so, how? pic is my fav meme btw

In the UK we have to do this to be able to use elevated work platforms on site, and they say it's recognised worldwide, so I wondered. Where are you from in the world, do you have this and what categories? I'm UK 3a,3b

Hi /diy/ Are electronics hit by lightning salvageable in any way ? I have his receiver or whatever it is here and it was supposedly hit by lightning, but I can't see any visual damage like blown caps, any idea how I can start troubleshooting without damaging the equipment beyond the damage that's already been done or killing myself ? Pic related, psu of device

Is it possible to achieve a decent paint job using a paintbrush instead of a spray gun? I'm getting a big van soon so I can start an international part load/removals service. The van I'm buying is currently off the road because it wouldn't pass inspection due to some rust and bad condition of the paint. Engine, chassis, brakes, lights, springs and everything else is in good condition. The current owner has already fixed the rust and sprayed everything in zinc phosphate primer and all it needs is the top coat. He was going to restore it for himself, but now has to sell because of a divorce. I don't have a compressor or spray gun and other required equipment and really don't want to buy any of it, which is why I am considering using a paintbrush to apply the paint. I don't want to spend a lot of money on paint either. . You guys think this will work? I've never painting anything that big and with as many flat surfaces before. I don't need a show or factory finish, but the result needs to look presentable at least.

PVC pipes gets brittle and breaks easily over time, I think because UV rays break it down right? Would spraying a thick coat of paint or something prevent that from happening? I know they are pressure rated, but I don't want that shit exploding into a million jagged pieces.
