Shipping Pallets

Hey, /diy/ I want to do a lot of stuff with shipping pallets. I want to do some flooring with them and make some cheap furniture out of it. My question is HOW do I get a hold of them? Where do you guys find them or get them from? >inb4 http://www.1001pallets.com/pallet-classified-ads/ I tried and there was nothing near me.

Shapening Mower blades

I need to sharpen a lot of commercial mower blades. I currently use a classic two wheel bench grinder light duty. I want to make a jig to get an even, quick and constant result. But the god darn thing has no tool rest and it doesn't really make sense to adapt something. I'm not sure what kind of steel, other than "1/4" (6.4 mm) thick heat-treated steel" that sells for about $50 USD for a set of three. Should I buy a beefy heavy duty bench grinder or a decent belt sander?

adjustable cardboard lamp, is it shit or not?

Hey /diy/ I made a cardboard desk light. It's adjustable, and the arm and shade is held together by the fixture and the three screws. My problem is I couldn't make the flat bottom part without glueing. It needs to be a closed box so I could throw in some weight (a handful of coins atm) to prevent tipping. Any ideas? Also, I'd be glad to have your general opinion, too. (I know the cutting looks shit right now, but this is just a handmade prototype, laser cutting is expensive af here, but I already have the plans if you'd like to make one for yourself.)

How do you guys who live at home embark on diy projects? I am 25 but live with my parents because this area is economically very expensive and I don't make enough to live alone. I want to do DIY to try and make home feel like I belong here but am having difficulty in doing so My main idea is that I want to build an outhouse in the back garden primarily for myself. My parents deny me however, and insist I am not allowed to do so. Their primary arguments against the outhouse are ridiculous and all have very easy, logical counterpoints. >I have nowhere to store the wood Of course, I would store the wood under a large tarp. >It would cause the garden to stink I would use air freshner. Besides, I enjoy a primarily fruit based diet so my faeces do not stink. Besides I would be excreting into the soil which would cause the worms to quickly take away any overly ripe lumps >It wouldn't have any drains I would empty it into the bins >It would upset the neighbours It isn't their business. >We have a toilet in the house But we don't have an outhouse, saying 'we have a toilet in the house' to argue against an outhouse is like saying 'but I have food on my plate' when asked why I have sat staring at food without eating for 2 days. How do you guys get your 'share' od DIY done in the house? Is it a problem you face?

Hi /diy/, I want to make a ~10 gallon flowerpot out of clay to grow hardy kiwi indoor. Will a kitchen oven be enough to fire the pot? I don't even need it to be waterproof as long as it can hold in the soil mix.

?-wave oven disassembly

Hello /diy/, almost total newbie here. Can anyone give me some hints to disassemble safely a microwave oven? I would like to salvage some components. Feel free to insult, though. Pic unrelated.
inb4 "Boy, sure it's Summer!"
Quick question, I need a switch type device that switches between two ribbon cables, what should I use for this? More specifically, Im building a custom NES and It needs to switch between a 72 pin connector and a 60 pin connector. Both will be connected to the board via ribbon cables.

Can someone here make and post me a 555 timer circuit diagram where the output is 10 volts for t seconds then polarities switched and also becomes 2 volts for 2 seconds and vice versa ad infinitum. If you do so please label the type and specs of the components that are needed >inb4whatareyouusingitfor Can't disclose that part.

What adapter do I need?

I want to run the fan with specs in pic related from a normal EU wall socket (230V). How do I go about this? I'd say I need an adapter, anyone know what kind of adapter?

Hello, /diy/. I'm making a project where I'll be using a lot of 3W LEDs, from various colours. As so, each colour have a different tension to be used. I will not buy a LED driver module, so I decided to build something similar to the pic related here. I was drawing mine, but I ran out of time. Anyway, the question is: I want to adjust the brightness of all LEDs together, but every colour is under a different tension, controlled by an LM317 (or some similar, doesn't matter for the question). Does a simple potentiometer before the regulators could be used? They would be in parallel, and would be probably 5 or more of them.

Anyone dabble in Shortwave radios? I was thinking about picking one up, but I'm not very knowledgeable on the subject. Listening to foreign stations and number stations seems like a nice little hobby to get into. Tips or good models?

Sup fellow DIY masters of the universe I have an old silver knife that just came into my collection and it's pretty worn or "tarnished". I'm no professional with silver but I'm pretty sure if I just cleaned it, it would just fade back Is there anything I can do to keep its brilliance once polished? Could I do an epoxy coating?

Lawnmower engine

So I got this Briggs and Stratton 3.5HP engine with a vertical shaft from a lawnmower. I would use it for a project like a kart or drift trike but then my best option is to convert it to a horizontal shaft. As I don't have a lot of experience with fabricating, I'm looking for other ideas. The thing is, I can't get that thing off where the blade is supposed to be connected to. So I can't really use 45 degree gears. So my question: what do I do? >pic related

Harbor Freight thread

Look, I don't give a shit if you won't buy anything that isn't branded "Snap-On" or "Festool" but one cannot deny there are some real gems lurking among the aisles at Harbor Freight for stupid cheap. What are some things you've picked up from /diy/'s favorite store that represent solid performance/value? I will start. Their 8-piece HSS Windsor Design lathe tools are literally rebadged (highly regarded) PSI woodturning tool starting kit. Thought it's the same price as Amazon, you can combine it the 20% off coupon. 18ga Brad nailer. Very reliable nail gun, paid $16 for it with a 20% off coupon. "Earthquake" air tools. Best I've ever used (though I haven't used much). Avoid: Any harbor freight vise. They are all made with paper thin castings. Their 100+ set of screwdriver bits. Last time I used them they literally broke one after another with every turn of the handle. It was horrifying. Discuss!
