I tried to clean my ps3 controller. I followed the tutorial of https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EfeFv0tWhOE but at the reassembly of the battery it gave a spark. Am I f*cked?

I'm currently planning out a bed frame and I'm trying to do it entirely using mortise and tenon joints(foxtail joints for the bed slats to side rail connections, foxtail joints for the center slat brace and a pegged mortise and tenon for the center brace leg.) I've run into issues on how to connect the outer rails together at the corners and pick related looks like it might be the ticket. Is this all a really dumb idea?

Sleeping facedown w/o touching front of face

Please assist, anyone with a brain can help. The challenge: sleeping facing down OR diagonally at a down angle, without anything touching the front of the face (except for chin) So far I have come up with pic related, it works when I test it but when its time to sleep, I can't fall asleep and end up rolling over. I also put the pillow under my chin sometimes

Hi /diy/, pointed this way by /g/. I'm a freelance videographer working out of the Middle East and parts of Africa. I'm tired of doing extensive editing on my laptop and am looking to build a portable editting station that I can leave back at the hotel. As I'm flying a lot I decided to place this inside a Pelican case. I have a Mac Mini, three multiple terabyte hard drives, a 60% mechanical keyboard and a mouse that need to be tucked away in addition to the 21 inch screen that I plan on fitting to the lid of the case. What do I need to be conscious of when constructing this? How can I add an AC plug to the outside of the case without compromising its weather proof/drop proof design? If its only running while open, will heat be a problem? What's the best way to start cutting/drilling into this beast? Any help appreciated.

How do I become white without it being noticeable that I've changed my skin? I'd prefer something that wouldn't just run off with water and would last multiple days so I can keep up the appearance indefinitely. I have a brownish complexion, like someone mixed between white and Mexican. Please help.

water agitation in fishtanks

17 more posts in this thread. [Missing image file: ]
so Ive recently got into aquariums and water agitation is causing me a bit of a problem. whilst it is necessary to break the surface tension in a tank to facilitate gas exchanges, i really dont like the normal methods. air pumps and bubble stones are too loud. due to a tank being in my bedroom it is disturbing my sleep. likewise with wave makers. so i was thinking, what other ways might there to be to achieve this, without the need for noisy pumps and expensive equipment. my current line of thinking is to use the old attempts at perpetual motion machines. while I am very aware of the laws of thermodynamics, im thinking they may hold the key disturbing the water while not disturbing my sleep. im looking for /diy/'s input and advice from anyone who's tried something like this. even just something thats powered by the natural heating of my radiator (like the drinking bird toy) could theoretically do the job but im open to suggestions

easily detatchable wood joints

I want to add some platforms for my cats to climb on in my living room (pic related). I'm going to lay pieces of wood between the beams, as shown in the picture. I'm renting and have house inspections every 6 months, so I need to find a way to make it very easy to add/remove the plants, while still keeping them secure. My current idea is to hammer some nails into the top of the roof beams, and leave the top of the nail sticking out about 1.5cm.... then drill holes in the wood so it will slot over the nails. Would do 2 nails on each side of each plank for stability. Hows that sound? Any better solutions?

Hi, /diy/, I want to build a computer, almost from scratch. I want to buy an 8 bit processor, get a few kb of ram, and connect it all to a board of switches and LEDs to do binary I/O like an altair 8800 (pictured). I don't have a lot of experience with electrical engineering, and I've designed digital logic circuits like an ALU (simple compared to other digital logic circuits) before but never actually made them (no parts). I can find 8080s online, but I can't find memory which I can connect to an 8080. Is there a way to get old memory like this, or am I better off trying to buy a newer processor? I'm trying to stay in the 8 bit family to keep things simple.

Any recommendation for steel toed boots for chainsawing and lugging around heavy wood? Would be nice if they're not too slippery since the area of operation has a lot of moisture and it's rocky. I'm pretty faithful to Timberwood and CAT, but I'm open to more suggestions, price range up to €150. And since I'm situated in the EU I'm not gonna see US-only boots here, so something from the European Amazon would be preferable. Thanks.

Hey /diy/ so i just bought a Crate G600XL Half Stack for really cheap (250 USD) while it sound very good, it lacks some bass, i was wondering if its possible to replace some components to boost the bass just like some people do with stompboxes. also apparently the previous owner used instrument cables, instead of speaker cables to connect the head to the cab, and i was told maybe thats why it lacks bass, any suggestions?

Jeep Switch Panel

I'm trying to build/design a custom panel for my jeep to have all the switches and controls all in one spot. I don't like any of the ones I've seen online. Any tips? ~12 switchs, 2 guages, a potentiometer knob, and space for something else, perhaps storage?

how do I grade this site

Hello /diy/nosaurs. I have a landscape company where I do pretty little designs on photoshop and then me and some buddies install the concrete/paver patio, retaining wall, turf, or whatever else the client wanted. All basic shit really >THE PROBLEM HERE IS This client wants his backyard (slope) graded to accommodate two patios separated by retaining walls. I've NEVER GRADED something so complicated much less do I know how to draw up blueprints illustrating said grading plan. I don't even know where to start. >How to I learn about grading? I can use a transit >but how do i transfer that data into a design? I realize I'm out of my depth here but I'm confident my guys and I can do the work once I generate a GRADING PLAN. >pics related

/diy/ makes a water feature

3 more posts in this thread. [Missing image file: ]
So i'm looking at making a water feature in our back yard, and I would like some advice if what i have planned will work. I've drawn an image with over 9000 hours in paint. so the plan is to buil 2 tiers of bowls from river stones and mortar. on top of those bowls I would fill it in with a layer of Plastic sheeting and then maybe screed that and cover the inside with small stones. the pump would be housed inside a small chamber inside it, or a submersible pump might go in the bottom pool concealed. The feature goes right next to a power socket so thats not a concern. I'm thinking either a waterfall of one of those japanese bamboo things might be nice to drain water from top to bottom. I'm just not sure if the plastic/screed combo is enough to keep it watertight? Anty other advice would be cool too. I'll post a pic of the corner of the house in question.
