Ask a guy who works here anything part whatever

hello /diy/pshits, anons, trips and etc.been busy, but these threads usually get a couple dozen decent posts before it turns into a bunch of people going "you're a useless cunt, no one cares, blah blah" same normal shit that is on a sri lankan shell trading website everyday.
feel free to ask whatever shit. lowesfags and menardfags are also welcome to make this a retailhardwaregeneralthread.
ps: your stupid customer service experience is probably half your fault but you're too ignorant of your own surroundings to understand this.
pps: we don't stock _x_ because one of the following reasons... a) 99 out of 100 people will never use it, so us, being a corporate retailer will not stock that kind of thing because we'd lose money. b) we could not get a contract with a good company nor will our in-house companies that we've bought over the years make an item at the moment without major retooling, which again is not profitable most likely. i guarantee you some bean counter somewhere did the math and there was a mostly useless meeting where a decision was made where number _____, which was how much money they'd make not selling what you want was higher than other number ____,, in which they sell what you want.
ppps: we work retail. if we were master electricians/plumbers/carpenters/etc we'd be out with those of you who are making the hundreds per hour a skilled technician commands. the sooner you understand that, the better your retail shopping experience will get at any of these places.

I bought budget soldering pen called Zhaoxin X4. We know it burn out after not so long time, especially the budget ones.
And i was wondering, can I make heater?? Like 50W. Problem is that the heater is pretty compact, it can be no more than 3,95mm so wiring cant be done with fat wire, more like like all of them with 0,1mm wire i guess. This particular 40W (as said on the box...) is 850R resistance heater with dimensions 3,8x65mm, but soldering point can be nailed with 4mm thick.
Does anyone how many cm of wire chinks could used?
Or anyone know how many ohm/meter and thickness to use and how long wire?
Self Sustaining Communities

I'm interested in learning what the skills and infrastructural knowledge required to establish and maintain a self-sustaining home/community on a sizeable piece of land through farming, etc.
I've been working a fairly nice IT job from ages 19 to 24 and because I don't spend on things outside of food/housing/transport - I've got a sizable amount in savings.
Right now I'm looking to find a community or group that accepts outside members who are willing to work in exchange for room and board. My issue is I don't want to deal with crazy people if possible, which seems to be the only type of people interested in this kind of shit.
I don't have some sort of new world order bullshit fear, I just have a hardon for self reliance. Working a 9 to 5 job feels like a lot of middle man for the two things I want - which are food and shelter. I'd rather work a field/hunt/tend livestock and get relatively full control over my life.
I like the idea of knowing that I rely on nobodt else for my livelihood.
Right now the two best resources I've found for what I'm looking for are WWOOFing opportunities, but those seem like relatively laid back experiences for "year before college" kids, or living in a catholic monastary - but they have a heavy emphasis on spirtuality (obviously) which doesn't interest me at all.
(I also just posted this to /out/, trying to cover bases at the suggestion of another anon on /trv/.)
