My dad's house has like 30 year old wood framed windows all over his house. He isn't going to get new windows ever.... Is there anything that can be done to stop these from leaking cold air into the house?

So after countless failed attempts I managed to build a neurophone (pic related) its working fine, I can´t really tell if it´s just ysing bone induction technology or 5d pyramid power to make the sounds inside my head and I really don´t care. My only issue so far is that the volume is kinda low, even if my mp3 is at max vol. I was wondering if using smaller piezo disks (currently using 1"-2.3 cm) would work, or if applying more voltage (the schematic said 18v via 2x9v batteries) would do the trick, or better yet, if using smaller piezos as well as a higher voltage would work. Thanks in advance.

Can someone recommend some good all around work gloves that will last while but don't sacrifice dexterity? I've got another 4000 sq ft of flooring to do and my hands are fucked up but I can't work very fast with thick gloves. Price isn't much of an issue, but I'd like them to be under $40

Hot glue is fucking awesome.

Fucking love cardboard + hot glue. So much you can do. Built myself a table, computer desk, and computer cooling system for the cost of hot glue + scrap cardboard + several pieces of junk wood. Really don't even need the wood, folded cardboard is fairly strong. What have you guys made with these wonderful materials?

Cardboard couch

Hello, im looking into making myself a cardboard couch, basically it will consist of a rigid part made out of compressed carboard and then some kind of big pillow case with a soft filling inside, this second part will be removable for washing. My main question is about the ergonomics for this, how would i go about designing it for it to be as comfy as possible. What is the best filling?

I'm trying to set up an induction heater to get things red hot and melt things without having to deal with fuels. I've seen these 1000w induction heaters recommended, but I don't have 24-48v 20A power supplies sitting around. Is there any reason I couldn't just take an induction hotplate, mess with the thermostat, and put in my own coils? It seems cheaper.

does /diy/ wash their tools? i'm always curious about the cleanliness of tools, especially those used in wood working. i see a lot of people using sanders, chisels, saws, etc. to kitchen items but always wondering how this affects food safety.

I have to repair my daughter's iPod. a 7th gen a1238 iPod classic. The problem is that replacing the battery I unsoldered some pins from the motherboard and fixing it would cost 95€ from the nearest laboratory. I would like to buy a used iPod compatible with that HDD. Is the 6th fitting? The model of the HDD is Toshiba mk1634gal. any suggz?

Plumbing redo

5 more posts in this thread. [Missing image file: ]
2 questions about plumbing: 1: I'm putting in all new copper pipe to my fixtures; should I put in a water hammer anywhere since it would be relatively easy? 2: I have the origional Range Boiler, should I keep it and pipe it correctly to the water heater or not? Background: >be me, handy guy with mechanic/contractor father >buy 104 y/o condemned house in MN 4 cheap >code report says redo most everything >noshit.jpg >do everything else, pretty st8 ford >get caught up on plumbing since I want to do it right the first time I don't want to skimp out, I buy American if at all possible, I do layout to make sure I'm using the lest amount of fittings, etc. Since I'm going to the trouble with all this, I want there to be no problems in the future (aka water hammer). Everything is exposed so it's not that hard to put one in by every valve and they're cheap enough. Like I said, I want to do this right so when I die the next guy goes "shit, this guy thought ahead".

I'm doing an art project. I want to craft a copper sphere that looks like this, only larger, on the order of 24" to 36" in diameter. I currently know approximately nothing about metalworking. How would I go about making something like this within two years?
