Hello Diy, I need your help in making a design. I need to build a prototype model for a coffee machine of my own design. I want to make my design stnsd out from the class by making a mechanism which loads a new shell in and ejects the used shell into the waste grill. The idea for the mechanism in my head was kind of like a shotgun .

How fix? / Household electrical general

3 more posts in this thread. [Missing image file: ]
So I buy a house, and after about a week into moving in, I keep finding little things that the sellers neglected to keep in decent condition (as sellers do). This one is a simple fix I'm sure, but they've managed to rip the outlet out of the wall, and the screw won't hold it there any longer. To add to this, and my own inexperience, there's no internal bracket thing. So, how am I best to secure this thing back to the wall without a huge mess or making a new hole? There's a stud about an inch and a half away, to the left. > inb4 someone tells me to turn off the power

Have you ever had a tool you loved so much be taken from you? I had pic related, and it was the best hammer I have ever used. Very light yet hit hard, almost no shock in the handle. It was my baby. I had an asshole 'sub' client put it on the street after hours for some Joe Schmo to pick up and put in his basement. I know, I know I should have taken it home at the end of the day. I miss her so much

Which do you recommend? I dont have experience with either but the quonset hut types were what i was planning on until i found out I cant find them for sale where I live as easily as the framed metal buildings.

best way to remove scratches from plastic screen

Bought a GPS. Its in kinda rough shape. Want to get it to be as good as possible before i go hiking this spring. Whats the easiest/best way to buff scratches out with common household things? I figure some of the scratches are too deep to fully fix, but id like to get it as good as possible. Then i'll put a screen protector on it, which'll hopefully mask the deeper ones.

Gasket?

So I got this Zippo when my grandfather died. I don't smoke but I love the shit out of it. I'm not sure if it's normal but after about a week the fluid reservoir evaporates entirely whether I've been using it or not. Either way, is there a gasket or something that wouldn't damage the lighter but would make the opening airtight or close to it? Thanks for reading.

wallbed project

2 more posts in this thread. [Missing image file: ]
Hello /diy, I am making a wallbed (pic related) and it is for my condominium which is roughly 535 sq ft. I want to make this thing because as of right now, I only have a studio style kitchen/living room, a bedroom, and a bathroom. I want to put this thing in my bedroom so that I can then convert it into a living room when necessary. Essentially adding a room to my condo. My problem though, is that I want to have a couch sectional attached that can be used when the bed is in the stored position. While I have the knowledge of professional cabinet assembly and access to expensive CNC machinery that I can program, I don't know how to build a couch, and much less, the upholstering that is involved. Is there a book that any of you could recommend that may be useful to me? I recognize that furniture building is an art, especially couches, but I do believe I am up to the challenge. I've made it this far. Any other tips or constructive criticism is appreciated and I will give more details of the condo if necessary.

Ultrasound dispruptor

Ok, this is lab cell disruptor. What it does is cavitating shit out of materials that came into contact with the probe in liquid environment. I intend to blast my sauces (you know how, for example, mushrooms and stuff like chlorella not digested by humans very well), beverages (including strong spirits) and medicinal extracts with it. Problem is, those fuckers are expensive. Looking for something to read up about cobbling them up from what you can buy on ebay.

Favorite metal

Hi /diy/, I don't normally hang around here but I need some help with something. I do metalsmithing with scrap and stuff i buy from local hardware stores, and I'm wondering what your favorite metal is. For aesthetic, craft or performance, whatever. Take my survey please, it's important to me and it only takes a minute. http://www.strawpoll.me/12102316/r

What's a grayish, powdery, nontoxic substance I can use to mimic common dust? Something that can be applied quickly. Need this for use in a film. Everyone recommends baby powder, but it shows up as too white, even on camera.

Dimensions

4 more posts in this thread. [Missing image file: ]
Hello, I'm planning on making the house in my picture out of chip board and I have to make my own dimensions for it. I'm having problems figuring out how to make dimensions for the first and second roofs since they're slightly sloped and they curve inward and up on the bottom. I have to be exact on this because I'm using a laser printer to cut my pieces out. Could anyone share some light on this?

Choosing my first iron

So beginner to /diy/ here, what's the consensus for a newbie's first iron? [ ] Cheap as shit [ ] Best you can afford [ ] Not more than X amount of currency [x] Choose by features vs. price point Pic related, its a $30 USD iron from Amazon i am eyeing. For a 60 watt iron with temp control and stand, it doesn't seem awful. Thoughts?

Hey /diy/ How hard would this be to make? What kind of light and side panels should I use?

Riddle me this /diy/: I am attempting to make a 2'' in bulkhead fitting via the parts in the image. However, when I attempt to screw them completely together, I cannot. Why is this? even when I sand down the threading as to create less friction between the two screwing parts, still I fail. What is happening here, and how can I get them to screw all the way together? Why do they sell them as male/female parts, yet they do not go together as one would think? Am I just fucking retarded?

I'm looking for some ideas on how to secure a remote rural property against theft, especially when it's unoccupied. It will be fairly low-key but it will have solar panels and satellite dishes that advertise to theives. I was considering camouflaged tire-spikes on the main driveway and perhaps either narrow ditches or anti-vehicle cable on the outer perimeter. I was also considering motion detectors that text an alert, but I feel that'd cause a lot of false alarms. The goal is to have an inexpensive place to live and work from home over the long term, mostly alone, so no expensive total-loss insurance policies or armed guards or anything crazy.

Raspberry Pi phone build

3 more posts in this thread. [Missing image file: ]
I'm trying to make a phone that uses a raspberry pi. It's more of a tablet because of its size, but I've always needed a phone/tablet with USBs because I do a lot of computer work on the go and don't want to bring a laptop with me. That and cell phone providers are the devil with their cut-rate service and insane prices, so I use google hangouts for both messaging and calls. I've got most of what I need set up, but I do want to know how I can power off and on the touch screen I have set up. I was thinking a switch but every time I unplug the screen from the 5v GPIO the screen can't be powered back on when I plug it back in.
