I have finally solved it. Instead of burying a seacan like a retard, I can just bury a quonset. Domes have the strength needed to fight the ground pressure.

what can I do with an old TV?

29 more posts in this thread. [Missing image file: ]
I picked up this old analog TV from the trash pile near my house. It works fine except for some slight scratches on the screen. what can I do with it /diy/? How much could I get for selling it online? Could I sell it for parts, which parts are valuable? This is my first time getting my hands on something besides old furniture, so I'm unclear on what to do next now that I got the thing.

DIY Evaporative Cooler

Has anyone tried making one of those DIY Evaporative Cooler/Swamp Cooler things? I'm looking at tutorials like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HxSLbpAwibg But I've been reading that it doesn't actually cool down a room at all; you have to be facing it, which kinda sucks if I want to be moving around my room without hitting a miasma of heat outside of my cone of solitude. My area hits ~90-100 in the day with 20-30% humidity, so it seems like this should work, but I'm still not sure if this cooler will lower my room temperature significantly. Thanks for any advice you guys can offer.

KiCad Protoboard help?

4 more posts in this thread. [Missing image file: ]
KiCad help? Hey friends. Pic attached is a Vector plug board, 22 gold contact (each side, 44 total), FR4, plated through hole, prototype board. These things usually go for $30 or more a piece. I need about 100 of them. I have a few more proto cards I need to make as well for some other reasons (I'm a production designer on a low budget film, the director wants a very specific aesthetic). The cards will then be built out with many components, LEDs, and displays. I was thinking of drafting one up in KiCad and having a bunch printed up at a cheap Chinese place, in several different colors of FR4. For the life of me, I can't get KiCad to simply lay out a grid of through holes without any traces or components added. Also I have no idea how to lay out the gold teeth on the cards. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Not looking to have it done for me, but would love to learn how to do it myself. In return if you have any questions about production design for indie film I'll be glad to help.

In general, is it safe to make a desk out of 1x2 furring? I'm making myself a desk but I want it to be solid. For context I built my own bedframe out of 2x4s, it works fine but it seems like overkill.

Led matrix display

Can anyone point me in the right direction to get pic related running? Its an ancient Led dot matrix built by Hi-Tech electronic displays, which i believe is out of business. It has a serial cable coming out of it. Is there a universal software for led matrixes?

Rate my Bunker Design

I've been designing a bunker. For no other reason than working out the logistics of an EMP proof self sustaining bunker. That could provide a comfortable post nuke living habitat. I believe all ideas deserve scrutiny. So I am posting the design here for discussion. It is 1600 square feet, the units are built from 40x8x9 shipping containers, this would be buried in the ground and encased in concrete. Power would come from a small solar farm with a grounded fuse box to protect against surges. There would be a filtration system for pulling air from the surface and removing radioactive particles. Water is filtered for repeat use, the system is fed from a tank, with a pump for pressure. Food stores should last 2 people 2 years, but as long as you immediately begin utilizing the hydroponic garden, you could stretch supplies out further. All together i feel I've accounted for most, if not all, contingencies and comforts. As well as spending several days considering fabrication challenges. So please ask questions.

Repair or buy anew?

I'm a fat fuck (not really, but w/e) who lives with his parents. They have an oldish NordicTrack A2350 treadmill. They've used it enough that my fat 210 lbs ass can't run on it, when I do the treads studder and feels sluggish/shitty. I'm considering just buying a new $300-$600 shit tier treadmill but am game for repairing it. Typically what should I be looking for? Is it just an engine problem? Quick search showed an engine for roughly $330 on amazon.

I have a laser printer and I would like to print transparent decal stickers for street art. I would like for them to be of decent quality so that they don't get ruined in rain and such. At this point I'm looking to buy decal paper for laser printers, but for some of them the application requires submersion into water right before application so that's not really suitable. I also don't know which of the brands is best nor if any of them coupled with my printer would produce acceptable results. Any advice?

Plants as passive income

2 more posts in this thread. [Missing image file: ]
Yesterday I dug some Thujas [1] out of the garden of my parents. I later learned, that one of these plants can be worth around $2000. I have absolutely zero interest in gardening, but I could imagine putting some pots on my balcony that faces south side, buy small plants for cheap, wait for 5 years and then sell them over the Internet. What do you think? Is this a worthwhile investment and source of passive/semi-passive income? Which plant would bring the most money per time, while being low maintenance. Excluding illegal stuff like pot or poppies, obviously. [1] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thuja

Old AD Nightmare

Help me /g/uys, I have been hired by a medium sized company to do some work. However, most of there networking is messed up because of a really shit AD setup. They have on DC with a god awful IP that makes everything difficult. Its been a long time since I worked with AD, but I don't think changing IP's in the primary domain controller and DNS server is going to be fun. AD management isn't really my job, but I see the current implementation as a huge stumbling block. As such, I'm really looking for the most elegant solution available. Is it better to fight the current DC, or just work on building a new one on a bleeding edge server? Any documentation or support would be greatly appreciated.
