Hey /diy/ could any of you beautiful people help me with a quick problem.
I bought a new lock for my grandparents front door and after fitting it for them, unbeknownst to me, my grandad decided that he felt the need to take it off and open up the mechanism to change the orientation of the catch. However in attempting to do so, the whole mechanism blew up in his face and he walks into my room holding a handful of parts asking me if I know how to fix it.
Not being an expert I had a look to see what I could do and I've managed to reassemble it so that the lock works, however I can't quite seem to figure out how to place the last piece of the puzzle. The spring that keeps the latch extruded doesnt seem to want to fit in anywhere. I can see where it's supposed to go but I can't seem to make it fit.
It's just a standard 5 lever mortice lock from Travis Perkins.
I've tried google but cant find an exact match on the lock.
Pic related, it's the lock in question.

For my 1:10 architecture presentation model I'm going to need a 83cm tree. There hasn't been given any restriction for what the tree should be made out of, but I'm thinking either wood or maybe layers of cardboard. It doesn't have to be an exact replica of the tree, but a simplified representation of it. I have access to most common materials for free (MDF, balsa, centafoam etc.). I would really appreciate some ideas on how to do this.
Pic related, it's the tree from the sketchup file we were given.
