Miniature fog machine using e-cigs?

15 more posts in this thread. [Missing image file: electronic-cigarette-1.jpg]
For cosplay purposes, I needed a really tiny fog machine. I figured that e-cigs would be the best way to do it, as per this video: I picked up four of them up for around 3 bucks a pop, making sure to get the ones where the cartomizer and battery were separable. Having separated them, I now face the issue of power. I was loosely following this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UAWZOu7ba_A It claims you can use AA batteries, but either I'm not hooking them up correctly or several of them in series aren't delivering enough juice. How would I be able to make a portable power source for these? The smaller the better. How long do the disposable ones usually run before the coil burns out? Refilling the cartridges isn't a huge issue, but the coils burning out while at a con would be a huge pain in the ass. Lastly, will I be able to simply replace the padding with the nicotine in it, or will I have to run it till its dry?

Converting the trunk to sleeping space

28 more posts in this thread. [Missing image file: sleepinthetrunk.jpg]
Any advice on modifying a crown vic so the trunk is accessible from inside the car and a comfy place to sleep? It'd let you overnight in parking lots during long road trips without people bothering you as they don't see anybody in the car. I was thinking something like small video monitors to see what's happening at various points around the outside of the car (so I have situational awareness outside the trunk without revealing myself) a channel to pee into that empties out under the car (looks like a fluid leak) and a ventilation fan + thermoelectric heating system that can run from spare car batteries under the front seats overnight, then recharge when the engine's running Thoughts? Tools needed? Cost estimates? Guides from people who already had this idea and did it themselves?

Sup /diy/ I came here maybe a week ago with a post regarding starting a hobby in electronics. This is the circuit I've decided on building, what do you guys think? (PS Sorry for my shitty drawing style/breaking of every etiquette and rule that probably exists)

So I wan to rock a symbol at the club. on my shirt. I can get two shirts for me and this girl that ... follows me. But some people like the design ... so what's the best way to get my own full t-shirt print store online? I make websites for a living, but what company does full print? [[ like anywhere on the cloth not just in the rectangular chest area ]] I can throw down $2000 for this. if people start asking me for the clothes, of course I'll supply them. actually. I should probably order the shirts... full print t-shirt company... kay... well. i'm doing this feel free to throw in warnings/suggestions

Places to buy an acrylic globe?

I need to buy an acrylic globe (clear), the kind that you'd find on street lamps and the like, similar to pic related. Where could I find these other than the internet? It needs to beabout 16-18 inches, so streetlight sized.

Hello, /diy/'ers. I've just finished building a soundproof door out of MDF and Green Glue. Now I need a soundproof gasket to go around the perimeter along the edge of the stop like these: http://www.tmsoundproofing.com/Heavy-Duty-Door-Gasket.html However, I will be building my own adjustable gaskets, but I need a good padding material. Neoprene rubber comes up a lot in my searches, but I don't want peel/stick. The only trustworthy place I can find is also TMSoundproofing who offers this: http://www.tmsoundproofing.com/soundproofing-rubber.html I'd like to get about 20 feet of it, but that's ridiculous at $2.60 per sq ft since I am going to need about 17 feet. Does anyone know of any good gasket material without peel/stick? Does anyone think the price TMS is offering is outrageous?

Note to self and whomever else it may concern: Don't try to smooth out chips in soft glass plates or cups with a torch. Anyway, I haven't seen one in a while, so glassblowing thread.

So I have a neighbour who likes running his extremely loud remote control cars (thetalented /diy/erand his brother). I would like to devise a weapon or RC car that can destroy his. I guess an EMP would work as well. Suggested welcomed.

Hey /diy/ I want to start a (not so) little project with this. I'm trying to get more space on my bedroom and this seemed like an awesome idea, plus the large sized bed is gonna be great when my girlfriend comes by. What do you think? Is it posible/affordable?

Aeroponics Thread. Any tips for using aeroponics? Does the micron of the spray nozzle matter that much, if so which spray nozzle is best? How long do I spray the roots for and how is it timed? What improvements should there be to maximize growth?

So /diy/ I'm starting to invest in stocks and such and I was wondering, which is the best or your favorite online site to do this on? I have several thousand dollars currently and just don't want to see any gains I make eaten up in fees and charges.

Question for woodworking guys, i want to make bokken ( wooden sword for practicing kenjutsu ), but the only thing about dimensions thats troubles me is that how this bow on the picture is made. In the middle of the picture you will see caption 0.50 inch bow, so the real question is how to put that information of dimensions into good use without screwing the wood?

'sup /diy/, I plan to sculpt these little "map holders" from Game of Thrones and sell them, but English is not my first language and I need more reference pics. What are these called in English? I have tons of epoxy putty but since these look carved, I think I'll use some toymaker's wax (http://blog.makezine.com/2013/02/05/make-your-own-toy-sculpting-wax/) instead. I don't have access to different types of epoxy so "green stuff" is out of the question.

plug a leaky faucet

2 more posts in this thread. [Missing image file: 1364777678871.gif]
hey diy so the story goes like this; I have a leaky tub faucet. I live in a rented home and the land lord is lazy / doesn't really do shit so even though they've known for months nothing's happened. The faucet bothers the fuck out of me [its not like a small drip but a pretty appreciable leak -- kinda like peeing at half strength]. I don't want to fix it myself because its not my property, I don't really know what I'm doing, I might break something, etc. Plus the unit is divided and I don't want to go around asking people if I can shut off the water for a bit and all that shit. Is there an easy way I can plug the stupid thing when I'm not using it?

I want to make a windmill out of mat-board for a window display, but I want it to rotate. How can I do that? I need a motor to rotate I guess but I have no idea where to buy it or which to get or anything. I don't want to spend a fortune. The fans of the windmill will be lightweight, a little thicker than cardstock, so it doesn't have to be too strong. There is an outlet in the window but battery powered is fine too. Thanks

Anyone do any kind of wholesale buying and reselling on eBay? I've been browsing some of those chinese wholesale websites with all the knockoff brand stuff, and it's all pretty cheap. I found a pretty good niche that would be able to make ~$25 profit per sale. Is this a good idea? Do a lot of people do this?

Anyone ever built with earth bags? What did you make? How long did it take you, with how many people? Tips? I'm thinking of doing a backyard shed / somewhere to drink. One electrical outlet, no plumbing.
