I have a question for /diy/ I realise that this question is better suited for /g/ but nobody has been able to answer my question yet. I'm looking to buy an extra pair of speakers and have my current ones on the floor, the problem is my amp is rated at 8-16 ohms and the speakers i'm looking at are 6ohms, will this cause problems with the amp? don't want to damage anything. Pic related

i want to build a simple device, but i don't know how to wire it. basically i want to run power from a battery to a switch that, when on, will slide a little pannel open, revealing a spool of cable that you can pull on, and when off, will close the pannel and reel the cable in. if it's easier i can forget about the reeling of the cable in, just the sliding pannel would be enough. is something like this possible for someone with like no experience?

Any helpful sites? Anyone wanna tell me how the fuck I can turn plants into "essential oils"?

Not really Do-It-Yourself but you guys may have a better idea than I or most boards. I've had this key for a very long time and I am still trying to figure out what it may be for. I am guessing some sort of chest or box but I cannot find anything that matches. No luck with the "SV77", either. Do you have any ideas?

Hey /diy/ I don't come here very often, so I'm sorry if you see a thread like this a lot. I'm looking into ways to make money, so I can be stable. I'm a 20 year old single father who has no education beyond high school. I'm really struggling to live a happy stress free life, but right now I work my ass off all the time, and barley getting paid. As of now I'm back at my parents house, but I'm really looking to move out, buy a shitty house and fix it up, and be stable for me and my daughter. I've been looking at new jobs here in there, but I want to know what you guys have to say. Thus, Making money thread.

I am cutting holes for new switches I tried a 15/16" bit - cut the panel, haha. Cutout appears to be 5/8" or 11/16" Is there a bit this size that is smooth so this doesn't happen again?

Hello, /diy/... I am posting this in the correct board? I live on a country that it seems to be in the middle of nowhere. Nobody is selling Dakimakuras or Waifu-related thing in country (Uruguay), as far as I now, i can found buy my shit on Argentina, but i don't really want to wait until I get that opportunity just for that. How can I make a Dakimakura by myself? Since this is actually sewing-related I'll ask in /cgl/ later. Anybody can help me?

I am going to hand some led bulbs in my room, I couldn't find a chord with 3 sockets so I am going to make one. I was wondering if I should put the bulbs in series or in parallel. Would putting them in series or parallel effect their life span? They are only 9 watts each. They also change colour.

Hey Guys, I'm pretty new here, and I was wondering if it would be possible for me to disassemble some earbuds, remove the speakers, and use them for something. If you have any recommendations, shoot. I was thinking the cliche altoid can speaker, but I'm not sure how I would go about amplifying the sound, or what I would need to do this. Thanks.

A long time ago I saw the instructions to build headphones by using the speakers found on greeting cards. I want to try this but lost the original instructions. I wanted to know if anyone has done this and could pass along the instructions. Also, is doing this worth it? Will the headphones produce quality sound? Any tips or techniques for building or improving said headphones are welcome.

I'm in the process of putting a new floor in a room of my house. Not flooring, a completely new floor. The room is 17.5'x28'. I don't know if simply using these I joist hangers will support the weight of a floor that size or if I should build walls in the basement room below on which the floor can sort of rest upon. I am not sure of which would hold that much weight securely, any input?

Head-mounted Telescopic Monocular

9 more posts in this thread. [Missing image file: goggles-telescopic.jpg]
Alright, I admitted my defeat and decided to seek help from people who are actually good in DIYing. I've always wanted to make a telescoping headmounted monocular (pic semi-related, screw the steampunk style it looks bloody ridiculous). I only want it for one eye. As a background info, it will be used in scouting and spotting for my sniper. With an assault rifle ready, it's kind of hard and time-consuming to pull out your binoculars out of a bag in the battlefield, much less when a nearby squad is under fire. In the end, I want a near-normal view when retracted, high-zoom when extended. I know how to do all of the telescopic work to make the pieces extendable but have no knowledge of lense-work. Any good chap willing to help?

Do feather dusters work for cleaning? How do you clean them off if they do? There's gotta be a better way then paper towels.
