How can I produce my own Japanese mahjong set? I would probably prefer wood tiles for cost I'm guessing. Never done anything like this before. 114 Tiles H = 2.5cm (1") W = 1.8cm (23/32") D = 1.6cm (19/32") Minor engravings on front of tiles with some paint. If there's a better alternative to wood I'd be interested. I thought perhaps I could use a CNC machine to create a plastic pattern, then use a copy router to etch away at a hunk of wood, then use a table saw to separate the pieces. Of course I don't have any of these machines, and my university won't let me use the machines since I'm not a mechanical engineering major. I want to produce maybe a dozen sets.

What is the purpose of the LTC4301L? Is it an i2c eeprom? Is it just a converter? This is the project http://www.instructables.com/id/Wii-Remote-IR-Camera-Hack/?ALLSTEPS The code https://github.com/joksan/Wii_Remote_Camera_Mouse/tree/master/PVision

Looking to repair a very old umbrella. What's the best way to "seal" the ends of the fabric to stop fraying? From a tag inside the umbrella I can tell it is 100% nylon. Would getting it hot (no flame) and mushing it together do the trick or is there a better way to do this? The umbrella is perfectly functional otherwise.

Hey guys, So I want to make a music box that would play one tune each time it's activated. The tune is like 20-30 seconds long. What would be the easiest and least expensive way to do this that you can think of? Sorry if I didn't include any necessary info, I'll be happy to answer any questions. Picture pretty unrelated.

This is a really stupid question, sorry. I bought a countersink drill bit and I noticed the back part that goes in the drill looks round. The other stuff that came with the drill has hexagonal backs. Did I buy something for the wrong drill? I figured it was all standardized. Black and Decker cheap ass drill, Irwin drill bit. Pic unrelated, I am from /a/ sorry.

Bow saw (the fine type) blades

Hi guys, I'm trying to find blades for pic related in Europe but it turned out to be quite difficult. Here's a good German-made blade that I found in a US shop: http://www.highlandwoodworking.com/continentalframesawripblade.aspx Anyone knows where I can find such a blade in Europe?

Greetings /diy/nosaurs, I come to you with a question. I've been searching for a free/cheap anvil at least 75+lbs for blacksmithing for many months now to no avail (unless one of y'all happen to have one to give). How effective would it be to just weld a hollow steel beam together, fill it with concrete, cap it with a flat plate and weld a square hole to the side for a hardy hole? Thanks in advance.

aquarium/terrarium

I just recently got a 40-50ish gallon tank from my mother and law for my turtle. I was wanting to transform it into a terrarium and have half of the tank as a water area and the other half have sand or rocks or plants. That way the turtle has a place to get out of the water and kick it or I could also put some lizards and shit in there or something. I got some plexiglass and some aquarium safe silicone adhesive/sealant at the hardware store. I've got the stuff, I was just looking to bounce some ideas off of yous guise as to how I should set it up.

I've been tasked with replacing the weather strips on my door. I replaced the side ones easily enough, but there's nothing on the bottom. If there was ever anything there, it's gone. I can't imagine what kind of strip to put down there. If any of you guys recognize this and could find an example of the appropriate strip, I would greatly appreciate it. I've been to home depot a few times but nothing really looks like it would match this. There is nothing on the bottom of the door. I'm willing to replace the whole assembly, but it could get messy given my obvious inexperience and ineptitude. I just don't want to take the door off the hinges and install something on it. Attached is a picture of the bottom door frame... Let me know if the picture's not good enough, you guys are my last step before I have to pay some guy to come fix it

Measuring Irregular Shapes

Ok so I need some help. How do you guys measure an irregular shape? For instance, let's say I want to cut a piece of plywood that fits perfectly inside my trunk on the floorboard. Even if someone has some terms I could search for I would be extremely grateful. I know about contour gauges for small shapes. I don't know if mold making terms/ideas would be relevant....like making a negative or whatever. There has to be a few ways to *properly* do this. I don't want to sand and make a million little adjustment cuts when it could be done right the first time.

I've got this net of Christmas lights. I've spent the past hour trying to figure out what's wrong with it. Only half of it lights up. So I went through the whole thing and drew this diagram. There are four lights on the net that have three wires connected. I sort of get the whole series/parallel thing but the way it's all set up and tangled confuses me. With no spare lights, I decided to just clip the sockets (that I suspected were burnt) off and connect the wires to see if it would help - and it did not.

Stairs remodel

Re-did carpet floors with nice maple looking laminate. Have an issue with the stairs though. Removal of carpet revealed poorly built stairs with 2x10 stringers sticking out from the drywall. Installing pre-made hard wood treads over the subfloor treads. Any ideas on what to do about covering the stringer? How can I make it blend in? Also, small budget so I can't rebuild the stairs.

Hey /diy/, I have no clue how to into electronic components. I'm not going to ask you to try and explain to me what all these different parts (transistors, capacitors, resistors, etc.) do, because I'm sure you have other things to do, I'd just like some good resources for understanding circuitry and how all these different components work, when you need them, etc. So If you know of any good (preferably free) resources for learning about this please share.

Hey diyers, I need a hand finding something. I'm working on a hydraulics project, and need help finding a motor. I'm needing something that can output close to 700RPM and 900Ft-Lbs or 11,000IN-Lbs or torque. Any ideas? The closest I've found was at SupplyCenter and it runs 10,000In-Lbs at 556 RPM. Thanks!
