since plumbing seems to be a common topic, ask away.
i also thought about making a how to thread on soldering. and i mean more detailed than cut, clean, paste, heat, solder, cool. i wanna tell you guys all the little trick and shit profesionals do to make it look good and not leak the first time. so i guess this thread is a poll for interest.

The lighting fixture in my shower has gone and i need to change it, but i can't figure out how to get into the lightbulbs. It is a all-in-one unit that has lights, heating elements and a fan, and it is built into a recess in the false ceiling. there are no clips or screws that i can find in it, and pressing on eihter the clear screen of the light bulb cover or the silver face does nothing in helping locate a way to gain access.
Does any anon know what this type of fixture is called? or how to open it/change the bulbs? i have done a google for variants on 'shower ceiling light', but have found none that also have the heating element or are similar enough.
my apartment building has a handyman, but i'd rather fix this myself.
Thanks for any help
Raised Garden Beds

Not sure if this was supposed to be on /out, since they have a few garden threads, but this about the actual construction, not gardening. If any of you guys could answer a few questions, I'd appreciate it.
Whats the best depth?
How would I go about making it of recycled materials?
What's your estimate of cost?
Other than the obvious leveler and a hammer, what other tools should I get?
Caring for a raised bed garden in a harsh winter like Michigan?
Should I use wood, metal, plastic?
I'm a newbie at making anything, so links on simple, step-by-step plans would help as well.

First I would like to thank those who have helped me and others in the past, you have given me solid advice that has helped more then any other learning resource I have used, I hope that I can repay you for that.
But for now I need some advice on a little project I have been pondering for a while, I have collected these little LCD displays for a while and wish to turn them into night lights for my keyboard. I want to do this because of the subtle yet bright light they emit.
However I have know idea what voltage they run, nor which pins do what. A half hour google search has not helped.
