Hey does anyone use colored light bulbs? If so could you post a picture of them in action? I was thinking of buying a red, black and blue one for my bedroom for ambiance.
>not sure if this is the right thread to post this.

It won't add ambience, it will just drive girls away.

Yea so will them knowing I browse /b/ and live with my mom. Really tho who cares, when I'm at home I'm not worried about getting pussy. It would be cool to do something artsy. I really just want to see how they would look before I buy em.

They're a bit crap, to be honest.

Get a colour-changing LED strip if you want coloured lighting.

The light rope or the bulbs are crap?

The bulbs are never that great looking. Parents used to do red and green outside house for christmas, I used to have a black like in a dormer window. Always just cheesy looking.

You are also stuck to where your light sockets are, unless you have a bunch of lamps.

Where are your sockets at, how do you plan to do it?
With LED technology there are a lot of cool cheap options now

You dont want colored ambient lighting to be overbearing

Well by my Ouija board I have one lamp with no lamp shade. But maybe a black light bulb under that. Ik that my room looks like it's for a 12 year old but I'm actually 20 and it's not complete yet. I'm not living there atm, so I can't post more pics. I'm trying to go for a midnight desert feel to it, thats why I want blue, purple, and red. But you might be right it might be too bright.

I use a red led bulb in my bedroom and have 2 yellow cfl bulbs in the kitchen area.

I bought them to try and correct my horrible sleep schedule/sleep disorder/delayed sleep phase disorder (dspd). I couldn't fall asleep before 7am for a few years.

The blue light from lights (tv, phones, home lighting) can disrupt our circadian rhythm making it harder to fall asleep at night. There are also screens to put over your phone.

I also live with mom and sisters and they didn't love the yellow lights at night but I think have gotten used to it. It lights up everything in the kitchen just fine, and I like the 'ambiance'

Interesting man. It might be sketchy buying a blue light then. But I wonder if a black light would fuck up my sleep pattern?

Yeah I personally would stay away from blue. Black light I'm not sure about. Part of the reason my schedule was/is messed up is from adderall abuse in the past too. My issues started after quitting though.

If you can easily fall asleep before 12 then you're probably fine anyways. If you wish you were tired earlier though, you could look into dspd and related treatments.

tl:dr

I use colored lights. It's beneficial to your sleep schedule/circadian rhythm :)

For less than the cost of three bulbs, you can get a LED bulb with color change remote. Some of the higher cost bulbs comes with a cell phone app to change color.

What you really need is a strobe light. Especially if you have a lot of windows.
Make them people outside go what the fuck.

1. You need to go to a lighting store or a home improvement store that carries them and see them with your own eyes, pictures on the computer will do nothing for you.

2.
>It would be cool to do something artsy
This isn't 'artsy' though, it's rather pedestrian and immature, actually. You must be rather young still, I'd say under 20.

So which ones should I get the spirals or the regular bulbs? Does it matter which? Also I had a black light and the heat was pretty bad. I think it would be fine as long as I don't sleep with them on.

Have you used f.lux?

Ambient LED lighting is more efficient and appealing than those god-awful colored light bulbs. The light output on them is shit when your socket is mostly away from objects to bounce the light off of. Google image search "ambient light rope" - some setups are impressive. You can get cheap LED light rope from DHGate.

Used red ones when I was a kid. Looked like an edgy brothel. Never again.

Buy a dimmer and bulbs of the right color temperature, get pussy.
