LED "underglow" on a dirtbike. How do?

My thought is buying around 10 rechargable 9v batterys and have them scatter around the bike hooking them to LED strips under the frame and inside of the plastics to give a glow affect. Wire all the 9 volts to a switch on the handlebars. Is there a better way to go about doing this?

If the bike has a 12v generator, I'd take a line off there.

check your ignition system - magnetos are perfect for this - most don't use the second coil for lights on a dirtbike.

Its a dirtbike, it doesnt have ignition. I was thinking just having a rechargable 12v.

You might want to try a 12v battery that is rechargeable and just wire from there. Something like http://www.amazon.com/UPG-UB12150-15Ah-12V-AGM/dp/B006T07BC0 and then wires to each led strip with connectors at the faring so you can still remove those without taking lights off. Securing the battery might be hard to do. Just buy a charger for it too. Trickle charger or float charger should work. I can draw up diagrams if need be. You definitely should use connectors and wiring harnesses so it looks professional if you ever sell it. Probably less than $100 by the end. Cheaper if you know where to look

It might not have electronic ignition - but it has ignition :) Somehow a spark is created every cycle. Use that power source and you don't need to add a battery,

If there's no battery it likely has a magneto? Learn how the thing works before adding stuff imo.

you can buy cheap small 12v scooter batteries. they can be placed almost anywhere.

then hook up your sick leds

Flywheel magneto then.

Ebay sells kits. All of the strips hook into one box and you supply power to that one box.

Learn what a flywheel magneto is and how it works. Take your power from there.

lol, led underglow on a bike? Get out of here, faggot. You're not making anything, just slapping wires and shit on your bike. TOPKEK.

i really wouldn't ride a dirtbike at night if i were you. you're bound to hit something you don't see and go flying.

Right around where the blue lines are. I think you could hold a battery on the left side number plate or under the front number plate. I could build a harness for the battery on either of those two places unless you know of a better place for a battery.

I'd be careful about adding things onto the ignition/charging system. since no make/model/year was given I can only assume it is magneto driven as has been said. Adding anything that requires a constant pull onto that system may burn up your wire coil.

A lot of the older magnetos have 2 coils. I wouldn't want to suck power from the spark - but if the second coil isn't being used for anything it can't hurt I think?

No. No. No! Lighting goes beneath the trim so no one actually sees an LED. You're going to look like a nigger.
