I'm sorry to make a thread like this but I need some advice and I'm the most comfortable with 4chan. Tl;Dr how do I stay confident in the gym Recently I decided that it's time that I get in shape. I didn't really play sports growing up so I'm a pretty scrawny guy. Went in to the gym today and tried benching (I had one plate on each side of the bar). I hit 4 reps and on number 5 my arms collapsed and the bar crashed into my chest. I struggled until someone came and helped me but everyone in that general area was laughing, snickering, and staring at me. I left out of the gym after that because it ruined my mood. My question for you guys is how do I deal with assholes that make fun of my lack of strength? I don't want to bitch out and quit.

I have been getting pain very similar to shin splints in my forearm for the past few weeks. First though was just stop doing things like curls/pullups to give them a break. They are getting worse and are even flaring up on things like bench press now. How long should I take a break completely from lifting and what should I do to prevent this from happening in the future?
