It usually takes me an hour to get from my house to work, 1/2 hour from my front door to the bus station downtown, and then another 1/2 hour from the station to work. My city recently built a bike path that goes right by my house and is almost a straight line to my workplace, making it only a 4 mile walk which takes about an hour and a half. I decided to start walking to and from work every day (increasing my daily walking distance from 2 miles to 8 miles). Considering the fact that I'm walking those 8 miles with an extra 20 lbs (I have a backpack with about a gallon of clean water and a healthy lunch, as well as my laptop and various other things I carry with me in a backpack), how many calories would you estimate that I am burning per day? I have heard people say that as a rule of thumb you burn about 100 calories for every mile when running, but I don't know if that applies to walking or not.

If I did squats, OHP, and deadlift yesterday, am I okay to do power clean and snatch today? I always hear you should wait 48 hours for recovery so I was wondering if power clean and snatch would tire the same muscles as the stuff I did yesterday. I'm probably not going to go heavy since I'm in the stage of learning the lifts now, but I was just curious if I would be in prime condition to do anything today

hey /fit/, First of all, I've never been here before, but lately I've been trying out a lot of different boards and I've been having some success with getting questions answered other places, so now I have one for you. I'm going to quit drinking pop (again). last time I lost like 15 pounds, but eventually i started drinking it again and put it all back. quitting drinking pop is the easy part, the hard part is energy drinks, I work 11 hour shifts in a factory welding and grinding sheet metal enclosures, and without them I die. I want to know is there any way I could make my own that weren't loaded with sugar? I want to use green tea as a base and if I have to buy a food processor so be it, but if anyone could even point me in the right direction that would be great
