Are these cunts even advisable? I've recently been squatting fairly heavy and I have been noticing some knee tenderness after heavy sessions. I'm sure it isn't form related but simply due to the stress of squatting heavy and I always recover from it ok - but I'm looking at gearing up for solutions to it. First thing, I wear a belt when approaching my final work set and subsequent 3rm's. I usually warm up with progressive warm up sets, hit my volume work sets, then continue to load up triples working until I'm done. Done usually means half a plate above my 5rm, 85-90% of 1rm. I squat barefoot and I'm considering shoes as my depth and form is a beautiful thing with even a strip of wood (less than 1cm) under my heels and I've noticed my feet struggling to maintain an arch under heavy load, this sometimes accounts for knee movement during my squats but this is very rare. Got a belt covered. Just ordered some straps under the impression they'd help me support my knee. Turns out they are bad for the knees. What says you /fit/? I don't compete against anyone except my self and my goals are to increase strength and weight moved while remaining healthy and in condition. In case you are wondering why I'm no longer natty and using a belt and considering shoes and straps and stuff I'm squatting 407lb and on target to hit 451lb by new years.
