It usually takes me an hour to get from my house to work, 1/2 hour from my front door to the bus station downtown, and then another 1/2 hour from the station to work. My city recently built a bike path that goes right by my house and is almost a straight line to my workplace, making it only a 4 mile walk which takes about an hour and a half. I decided to start walking to and from work every day (increasing my daily walking distance from 2 miles to 8 miles). Considering the fact that I'm walking those 8 miles with an extra 20 lbs (I have a backpack with about a gallon of clean water and a healthy lunch, as well as my laptop and various other things I carry with me in a backpack), how many calories would you estimate that I am burning per day? I have heard people say that as a rule of thumb you burn about 100 calories for every mile when running, but I don't know if that applies to walking or not.

After working out (form 5pm to 6 pm) usually at 10pm before going to bed i do 150/200 situps and 50/60 push ups...and i don't know why my joints do a cracking /snapping sound (particulary hips when doing sit ups, elbows doing push ups)with absolutely no pain. is everything ok or should i be worried? I've been on SL 5x5 for 2 months and I'm hitting a plateau: I haven't been able to progress in my lifts for 2 weeks. Current Stats (5x5): DL 100kg Squats 90kg BP 75kg Pendlay Rows 65kg OHP 45kg BW 80kg for 1m78 I'm planning on taking a week off and afterwards deloading 10kgs on every lift and go back to SL normal progression (~2.5kg more every session on every lifts). What do you guys think about it? Should I do without the week off? Is this a good idea?

I'm sorry I'm not impressed by people who have lost a lot of weight. I'm more impressed by people who have stayed fit and in shape their whole lives. To me that is more difficult and more impressive. Hey /fit/, Recently I've decided to lose the leftover fat I have from being a fuckin hamplanet a few years ago. I train martial arts everyday, for either 1 or 2 hours, but my eating habits are simply bad. I managed to get some muscles which are almost entirely covered by fat and I want to cut around 10kg (21lbs) in 2 months. Visually I want to to get rid of this bump over my lower abs. I started doing some daily calories balance just to get better idea where I'm standing. My question is whether 1900kcal intake is ok or should I go lower. Next semester I'll have three empty slots in my schedule, and since I'm not allowed to take three study halls, I've decided to fill one or two in with physical education classes My basic choices are Life Saving (lifeguard certification stuff, mostly swimming), Physical Fitness (Weightlifting and cardio stuff), or a combination of the two. So /fit/ my whole life I have been really fat and because of it have serious body confidence issues. I've lost 34 kg (75 pounds) and been lifting for ~7 months so built quite a lot of muscle. Heaps of people have been commenting that I look great and girls have started becoming interested in me (had 2 girls last week give me their numbers). The problem is that now when I look in the mirror I think I look fatter than I did before, and pick out every thing that needs to be improved and can't get passed focusing on those, rather than seeing the positive progress.
