Holy shit the Hodge Twins suck. Never knew much about these guys. I'd heard them referenced on /fit/ but I never watched any of their videos. I just looked at their "What do we think about Starting Strength" video. Half the video was literally just the one guy pushing his brother toward the camera, and them laughing. Then they just said, "well this guys been lifting for a long time so I think he knows what he's talking about.." It was clear they did not even glance at SS to review it. Then they said "you won't build muscle doing isolation exercises," which is sheer bullshit. Obviously isolation isn't as effective for a bodily transformation, but you will build muscle in the targeted areas doing isolations. And then the video was over. How are these guys even remotely popular on YouTube? They're not informative and they're not even at least funny. They're obnoxious. Wtf?

These amounts of vitamin C are far too low to get a significant benefit, or even compare with the amounts of vitamin C normally produced by most mammals under stress. Most every mammal produces its own vitamin C from its liver. Primates and shit like guinea pigs got a mutation so that they can't. How much does a normally functioning animal liver make? A DOG will produce on the order of 20-40 GRAMS of vitamin C per day. Put it under stress, cut it or some shit, and it can go up as high as 200 grams per day. BIRDS? Make like 5-8 grams/day. Torture those little bitches? 20-40 grams. Listen, listen folks. You want to avoid a cold? You want to avoid a flu? You need to stop fucking around with these placebo doses of V. You want 10-25 grams ascorbic acid per day. You got the flu? You can go as high as 100 grams per day by mouth. Google "bowel tolerance vitamin C." They did some research and found that the sicker you are, the more C you can take by mouth before getting the runs. If you're really sick, you can take nearly infinite amounts.

Why does my Pre-workout make me hungry later on? I'm drinking plenty of water, so I don't think that its because I'm dehydrated. The pre-workout I'm taking is MP Assault. I get a hungry feeling in my stomach 15 minutes after I eat. What's the deal? Pic related. It's me thinking I'm about to go over my daily calories.

So today this older (i reckon 35yr old) DYEL started setting up for upright rows in my gym's only squat rack. As I wanted to finish my workout I kindly asked the guy if he could use the barbell-curl rack or let me show him how to pick up the bar from the floor with proper form, so other's can use the squat rack for either squats or OHP. I really tried my best not to sound condescending. The guy responded pretty agitated and refused to leave so i had to wait. Afterwards he sneered at me that it wasn't for me to decide which equipment other people should use for their workout. This left me with a pretty bad feeling. Was I indeed in the wrong to ask him to leave? On the other hand, my gym is pretty small and there is only one rack which is both used for OHP (if someone can't clean cause of form/injury) and squats... I'm in a depression at the moment so I find it hard to assess social situations at the moment, hence i'm asking fit.

I have no experience in martial arts. Getting in decent shape now and I have always wanted to try something. This isn't a whole lot in my area but I definitely want to do something that's practical and will substitute a good work out. Maybe even compete if I'm able to really get into it. I'm thinking boxing or kickboxing will be a good start up. Any tips from people with experience? What's a good price? How do I choose a gym?
