so /fit/, I've been cutting and lost 30ish lbs, but my strength has also tanked pretty badly. Now I'd like to attribute most of it to my CNS (I'm a guy who while is able to push myself for a fast sprint or a strong vertical jump, am dead after an attempt and have to take long rests,and if I get even slightly less sleep than usual it affects me etc), but also diet wise, my protein intake has been pretty moderate (probably between 70-100g everyday, but not the recommended 1g/lbm), because I've read that the bodybuilding-esque recommendation is overkill. But would more protein helpwith my strength? I've also been eating healthy, but not really paying attention to my macros. Would going keto/low carbs really help me get the last of my fat off my gut?

So yesterday I tried deadlifts. I always avoided them (along with squats) after screwing up my back doing crossfit tire flips. Recently I've been thinking about how my routines might be lacking thanks to the absence of the holy squats and deadlifts. So I went to the back of my gym and gave it a whirl, tried to adhere to Rippetoe's advice on form, and boom, did my first deadlifts. I was only able to lift about 245. So, /fit/, what reasons do I have to continue doing deadlifts? What do they work, do they have any secondary benefits, etc.

alright, so I don't frequent this board, but I have a sleep related question. sometimes, If I go to sleep earlier than I have been the past few days, I'll wake up feeling incredibly parched, and sometimes even have cotton mouth. for example, on Sunday and Monday, I went to bed around 2 AM and woke up around 10 AM. but last night, I went to bed at 11 and woke up this morning at around 7 feeling like I've gone a day working in the sun without drinking anything. So my question is: is there any possible condition this might be connected with? also, is this fairly common? I'd also like to say I only drink water and occasionally juice, if that's relevant.
