TL;DR: how do I tighten the skin on my belly, now that I've lost most of the fat I didn't want? I'm 5'10'', currently at 154 lb, after dropping 35lb since November. Until 2 months ago I was doing cardio only, now I do Reg Park's beginner program 3 days a week and, given enough time, do cardio 3 days a week on non-lifting days. Ever since I started lifting my weight is standing still, but I'm definitely getting visually leaner. I look halfway decent with clothes on now, but will continue to cut once I see some abs. Don't know if it will be considerably more difficult since my belly skin is, arguably, pretty loose.

I'm currently living in Chile and will be here for another 5 months; normally being in a country so rife with fish and cattle wouldn't be a problem, however I am a vegetarian (please, let's not get into a debate about this). In the states I have no problem getting more than enough protein but down here is a different story. Beans/legumes are eaten sparingly, same with eggs, and so all that I can get protein from are yogurt and cheese (I'm living with a chilean family). The flip side is that Chileans also don't eat a lot of whole grains; bread is common, in fact it and white rice and potatoes are often in meals. As of now, I don't think I'm getting even getting a recommended amount of protein for a normal body. In a few weeks a friend will be here from the states, and I've considered asking him to bring me some protein powder. Now I'll have to use this often because, like I said, protein intake is nowhere near optimal. What type of protein powder/supplement/etc should I go with to make sure I can get a decent balance of protein, amount for the price, and lack of boob development? Would hemp protein be the best way to go in this respect, especially for avoiding boobs? Any other advice would be appreciated, I really don't want to come back to the states emaciated.

Are any of you very strict about your nutrition? How do you manage to track your calories very accurately, especially when going out in public? Do you take snacks with you, or simply decline eating out until you get back home? I've found so far that the exercise isn't the issue for me, the more difficult part is my diet. I tracked a normal day for me and totaled my calories afterward, and I was only eating about 1800 calories per day, whereas using a calorie calculator, it says I should be eating about 2000 to cut right now. How do I into accurate calorie tracking? Also, somewhat related question, approximately how much do you find yourself spending on groceries on a weekly/monthly basis? Apparently most things where I live are fucking expensive, at least if I want food that isn't pumped full of preservatives, corn syrup or extra sugar... fucking Whole Foods.

hey /fit/, Im obese and since one month Im doing cardio and SS with a kcal deficit of course. Its probably the fault of my form but since last week I have a feeling that something is wrong with my right knee - Its not really pain but its like its strained and it cant handle the weight. Today a guy commented that in fact my upper body is swinging when Im doing squats and he recommended me that I shouldnt do deadlifts and squats because its more for advanced people and with my form I would fuck up my back and because Im obese(were talking here about 350lbs) im squatting more than just the weight of the bar. What do you recommend me ? Reset the squat and force to learn the proper form or do you think with my weight its better to do leg press ? My squats were at 190lbs x 5. Another question is if SS with a kcal deficit is really a good programme for obese people like me who are trying to lose weight. And how long should I do it because I think the standard stats like .. TL;DR How to help a family member lose weight My dad just came back from shopping at a clothes shop that tailors specifically for "large people." Because of this it got him down about his weight, he is also experiencing back troubles and is on medication for his heart. Usually he is not that bothered about the advice I give him as he always says "I have tried to lose weight before and I never lost a pound" but this time he seems quite motivated. However I need help thinking up for a diet plan for him to follow. He does no exercise (desk job). He is 5ft 8 and weighs around 21 stone/ 294 lbs. I worked out his BMR is 2100 calories a day and his maintenance calorie allowance is 2600. This is what he eats in a typical day: 7:30 am - toast or cereal 11:30 - meat sandwhich 3:30 - cake or pastry or another sandwhich 6:30 - toast or a meal, depends on what is in the house really, followed afterwards by chocolate midnight - crackers What can he have as substitutes for these? Does anyone have any experience switching from such a high carb/fat diet to a low one, because I have always eaten really healthily.

So what's a good routine for both strength and aesthetics? I've been doing a routine in my high school weights class mainly for the footballs players, and I've been doing it for about a year now. It's a weird routine where you do lower body the first day, chest and arms the next, lower body the next (box squat/low squat), and then upper body (board press). There's no dead lifts, rarely OHP, or anything of that nature. Anyways, I'm going to be going onto college, and I want to start a routine there, sense I have a decent strength base (I've been lifting off and on for a total of 1.5 years). Any advise?

Is it even possible to lose the stomach fat left behind from being fat? I always end up repeating the same process of getting fat then working out and losing it every couple of years, but I can never manage to remove all the flab on my stomach, or even get the skin semi-tight. When I ask friends who are in pretty good shape they just tell me the typical answers: "Oh you should just do lots of cardio and eat low calorie foods, its just fat." or "Do lots of crunches and ab workouts to target the stomach fat." Of course these guys never had to lose the stomach fat themselves and are only repeating what I already got from google. I've tried literally everything I've been told and been damn consistent with it for months on end and I never see my stomach tighten. I can feel my abs underneath it all, but visually I can't see a difference no matter how many ab workouts I do. Has anyone ever been able to get rid of the stomach flab from once being a fat person? Without getting lipo? I want anons with personal experience here and not ones who just regurgitate what they've been told works. Before and After pics are a plus. Pic is me. That's just the last 3 months, but I went through this same thing all throughout high school and I'm just wanting to do it right this time.
