Applefags are mad.

I want to switch to Linux, but I'm scared.

I'd like to switch to Linux, but I'm scared I wouldn't be able to do it correctly. I've read a lot of posts online, but I'd like the opinion of /g/. I tried installing Linux on an old test laptop a while back, but the graphics were broken and many drivers were missing. I have a newer Toshiba Satellite, and I'm willing to try again. However, I don't want to mess up my computer and have no way of undoing it. Should I partition my hard drive at first until I am certain I could get it running properly? I have no idea how to use Linux, but I'd like to learn. I only use open-source or free applications (LibreOffice, GIMP, Inkscape) as it is, and everything is available on many distributions of Linux. Can you recommend a distro and tell me what I need to do to set it up? Most of all, I don't want to ruin my computer. Thanks!

The Beginning of the End of Facebook

It's happening. >Facebook's 'Real Name' Policy Can Cause Real-World Harm https://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2014/09/facebooks-real-name-policy-can-cause-real-world-harm-lgbtq-community >Drag Queens Aren't The Only People Affected By Facebook's 'Real Name' Policy http://www.businessinsider.com/drag-queens-arent-the-only-people-affected-by-facebooks-real-name-policy-2014-9 >LGBT Facebook users fleeing to new social media network over name change flap http://thegavoice.com/lgbt-facebook-users-fleeing-new-social-media-network-name-change-flap/ >Social network Ello gets boost after Facebook boots drag queens http://www.washingtonpost.com/news/morning-mix/wp/2014/09/25/social-network-ello-gets-boost-after-facebook-boots-drag-queens/ http://www.marketwatch.com/story/facebook-killer-called-ello-gets-the-timing-right-2014-09-25 If you don't know; among other shit they pull, Facebook is heavily enforcing a real legal name policy. This means stalker victims, teens, drags, and anyone else who uses a fake name on FB has to change to a real name or their account will be deleted. Like, actually *deleted*, not 'closed'. People can flag your page as using a fake name by the way/ FB will then ask for government ID's and legal docs with your name. >But who cares about these faggots anyways OP? You're missing the point. People are taking this as a person attack, and on the lgbtqqwertyuabc community, and **are planing to leave Facebook en mass**. Once this starts every liberal, SJW, progressive, and anyone else who doesn't want to look anti-LGBT will follow suit. >TL;DR: people are starting to leave facebook for good.

Is switching to Windows 8.1 from Windows 7 worth it for the Visual Studio Express for Windows to develop Windows 8 apps and emulate the environment on PC(I have a Dreamspark for STEM students account so it is all free)? I know it can sound retarded while I could just dual boot but I just want to hear from you guys if Windows 8.1 is worth making a complete conversion or even a better OS than 7. Also my Windows 7 is a pirated one, if there are any benefits to having an original copy of any Windows please mention.

Look at your smartphone. Ask yourself: why did you spend so much money on it? What's the point of spending $600+ on a phone you only use for browsing the internet, making calls, texting, and listening to music? Are you aware of how much money companies like Samsung are making off of you by selling you devices chock full of overpriced features? Are you aware of how much money you are wasting by overpaying for these features? Tell me, /g/: Just how much do you even use your smartphone to warrant what you paid for it?

My first ever smartphone was a Windows Mobile 5 one called the HTC p3400. Over the decades I've switched to Blackberry, Apple, Samsung, Apple. Now I fell in love with the HTC One Series but never got around buying them. HTC sells at a high price as always. But my next phone is going to surely be whatever HTC will release. Should I go for the HTC One M7? or is HTC One M8 really worth the installment fees? Or should I just wait for next year till the prices drop?

Money isn't an issue but I can't justify spending $500+ on a device that will shatter after 1 good drop. Why is it so hard to find a phone with the following >5 inches or less screen >Won't break if you drop >expandable storage >2gb+ ram >takes amazing photos >4k >3000 mAh+ battery >Strong XDA community >officially supported by cm/pa/aosp/google stock/etc

I wonder if someone can help me out. I'm looking to train my problem solving skill programming wise. I have already tried Project Euler but I'm getting more and more stuck by the math side than by the programming side. Can someone tell me if there are more sites like Project Euler but more programming oriented? Thanks in advance

Torrentgate: The libtorrent maintaner is a paid Bittorrent Inc. employee.

And now you know why libtorrent-based clients like: >qBittorrent >Deluge >Free Download Manager >Miro ...are such shit compared to uTorrent. Because this asshole's employer is Bittorrent, Inc, the MPAA-associated company that currently owns and develops uTorrent. He's probably making sure that it never performs as well as uTorrent. Ever wonder why uTorrent can handle 1TB torrents just fine and qBittorrent cannot? Arvid Norberg's LinkedIn profile will give you the answer to that. http://www.linkedin.com/pub/arvid-norberg/2/977/ab8 And because freetards think that "muh open source" is the answer to everything, they don't even look into the fact that a major open source project is maintained by an employer of a product that has a vested interest in being the best torrent client online. Why is such a conflict of interest allowed in the torrent community? Why are you still using qBittorrent and Deluge when this Norberg guy's employer pays him to make sure uTorrent is better?
