Any neo-luddites here? It's time to accept that while technology is making some things easier for us, it also creates possibilities for abuse and misery. www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2014/jul/22/the-tech-utopia-nobody-wants-why-the-world-nerds-are-creating-will-be-awful http://www.theguardian.com/sustainable-business/2015/jan/19/davos-climate-action-democracy-failure-jorgen-randers http://www.scientificamerican.com/article/rich-see-different-internet-than-the-poor/

/g/ents, I interviewed at Facebook on Tuesday for a position on their mobile team. Haven't received a response yet but I think I did well. I fucking hate Facebook but I need a job and they pay a lot. I was at their HQ in Menlo Park. Large building... huge food area... food was free. They even have vending machines for computer stuff on campus!

So I'm going to uni soon and thinking about getting a new laptop to replace my x201i. There's nothing really wrong with it, I'd just like something more up to date if I'm going to be using it everyday. Something with more modern features like HDMI, 1080p screen, etc. I also want it to be portable so 11-13 inch in size and none of this transformer tablet shit. Performance doesn't really matter too much but broadwell would be nice for that power consumption. What does /g/ recommend?

spotify's web client fucking sucks balls honestly the biggest atrocity I have ever seen.. how fucked would I be legally (and workload wise if this is an independent venture) if I developed and distributed a FOSS third party CLI that allowed people to search and play music (literally the only two things you need) off their servers? What if I let ads play? I know how to write programs, know a LOT about networking (but layer 3 stuff, not front end). It could be as simple as a lynx plugin that interfaced with spotify's web page, or its own stand alone deal that mimicked a web browser (could even ID itself as firefox nightly or something, who gives a fuck) like cmus.
