Why do FLOSS / linux distro devs give no shit about GUIs and design? I'm not talking about degrees of shininess, but legibility, consistency, some basic visual appeal.
I get that the hobbyists will mix KDE, gnome and other elements into their ugly ass homebrew distro but it's curious just how amateur-like even the big ones like ubuntu look. I bet if they cared enough, they could get some freetard design student to do a design overhaul for them for free.

and ubuntu is still better than pretty much any other distro i've seen.
