Is It Worth Buying The GTX 970?

I'm going to upgrade my gaming PC sometime in the next couple months. I'm in the market for a Nvidia GPU under 350 dollars. I would get the R9 390, but it is not an option for me because I have a shitty Corsair 600w PSU, and I don't want to risk blowing up my PC. This really only leaves me with the 970 for a GPU in my price range. I have so many concerns with getting this GPU though. It's already over a year old, it only has 3.5 GB of VRAM, there's talk of there being shitty DX12 support, and the upcoming Pascal GPU's are supposed to be a giant leap from the Maxwell architecture. What's your opinion /g/?
ITT: Year of the Linux Desktop NEVER

Computers with GNU/Linux preinstalled will never take off because people still live under the impression that a computer is broken if they can't see the windows logo.
Linux zealots who would actually buy a linux prebuilt would just reformat and install their favorite distro anyway, so they have zero motivation to make a dedicated linux product.
Most people are so uninformed about linux that they honestly believe it's still stuck in the command line era of MS-DOS.
In fact, if you tell them that GNU/Linux has no video support and the only way to watch videos is to watch them as streams of text on your terminal (like with libcaca), they'd believe you.
Post more reasons why Linux will never dominate desktops in it's full form without being gimped or dumbed down.
