>Transmission riddled with ransomware >Vuze is Java-based which means tons of bloat and puts you at risk for malware >qBittorrent stalls your torrents and crashes like hell >Deluge eats up your CPU like crazy >Tixati is bloated as fuck >Halite is dead Open source has failed to produce a good torrent client, just as it has failed to produce a good desktop OS, much less a secure desktop OS. Linux Mint has proven that open source software can be used to inject malware into your PC. Therefore, open source is insecure, buggy, and crashy. All hail the amazing uTorrent. The best torrent client ever made, due to the power of closed-source, professionally-produced software. Freetards can't even begin to compete with this. After getting burned by all these shitty freetard clients, are you ready to stop listening to /g/ memes and come back to uTorrent with open arms?

>Microsoft still makes and sells 32-bit versions of Windows >many consumer Linux distributions still offer 32-bit versions on their website When will 32-bit finally die? Apple killed off 32-bit support back in October 2012 when they released OS X Lion, which was exclusively 64-bit, and iOS is making that transition now beginning with iOS 7 and the 64-bit iPhone 5s. The vast majority of computers being sold today, even the cheapest computers like the $35 Raspberry Pi 3 are 64-bit. When will the rest of the industry join Apple and finally cut down that outdated technology for good? It's time.

>VLC is the best video player for Android >VLC is the best audio player for Android Has media playback development on Android stagnated so much that VLC has singlehandedly become the best video player and the best audio player for Android? Where's Foobar2000 for Android? Where's mpv for Android? VLC has zero competition on Android. It's blown away everybody else because it's got no ads, plays everything, is completely free, actually works well, and gets updated all the time. VLC rules the Android media playback market. How did we let this happen?

/flt/ - Friendly GNU + Linux Thread

Welcome to /flt/, we are always open to users of all levels, including absolute beginners. There are four ways to try GNU + Linux, you can: 1) Install a GNU + Linux on a VM (Virtual Machine/VirtualBox) for "safety purposes" 2) Use the Live ISO directly without installing anything, that way, you can get a "full GNU + Linux experience". 3) Dual-boot GNU + Linux with Windows/Mac (recommended if you want to learn more about GNU + Linux) 4) Go balls deep and overwrite everything with GNU + Linux Before asking, please search for answers to your questions in resources. Please be civil, notice the "Friendly" in every Friendly GNU + Linux Thread. Understand that much of your software from Windows will be unavailable, although maybe WINE can make up for it. Resources: man <insert command here> Your friendly neighborhood search engine (searx.me, ixquick, whatever) https://wiki.archlinux.org/ (Most of the configurations and troubleshoots will literally work on various distros, including Debian) https://wiki.installgentoo.com/index.php/Category:GNU/Linux http://linuxcommand.org/tlcl.php

Laptop

Would anyone be interested in an ARM ultrabook? thinking of starting one up on kickstarter. specs would be: >8 core CPU (Still haven't decided but it'll be something decent and probably qualcomm) >65w or 75w battery >12 or 13 inch 1400x900 screen >4GB ram >USB type c charger >additional ports such as usb 3.0, card reader, HDMI, and other typical things included in laptops. >backlit keyboard The goal is to build a smooth and fast web browsing machine for cheap that will have incredible battery life. Why 900p instead of 1080p or 720p? Because 720p is trash and it'll look almost the same as 1080p but perform almost twice as fast. since there is linux for ARM that has web browsers libre office, it should be decent. just install your distro or OS of choice and use it like you would a macbook. Been thinking about this a lot. A cheap laptop that can achieve 15+ hours battery life per charge would be incredible.
