Last: >>53772708 Welcome to /fg/lt/, or as I've recently taken to calling it, /fg+lt/. We are always open to users of all levels, including absolute beginners. There are four ways to try GNU/Linux, you can: 0) Install a GNU/Linux OS on a VM (Virtual Machine/VirtualBox) for "safety purposes" 1) Use the Live ISO directly without installing anything, that way, you can get a "full GNU/Linux experience". 2) Dual-boot GNU/Linux with Windows/Mac (recommended if you want to learn more about GNU/Linux) 3) Go balls deep and overwrite everything with GNU/Linux Before asking, please search for answers to your questions in resources. Please be civil, notice the "Friendly" in every Friendly GNU/Linux Thread. Understand that much of your software from Windows will be unavailable, although maybe WINE can make up for it. Resources: man <insert command here> Your friendly neighborhood search engine (searx.me, ixquick, whatever) https://wiki.archlinux.org/ (Most of the configurations and troubleshoots will work on various distros, including Debian) https://wiki.installgentoo.com/index.php/Category:GNU/Linux http://linuxcommand.org/tlcl.php https://prism-break.org/en/categories/gnu-linux/

After doing a lot of research I came upon the Shure SE215 which seemed to be not only extremely well sounding earphones - but also well built and comfortable. However every time I looked up threads on the Shure SE215s the top comment was mostly about how some other headphone is better. I've managed to narrow it down to the three most mentioned and raved about headphones 1. RHA MA750i - $130 2. Shure SE215-$100 3. VSONIC GR07 Bass Edition - $130 A lot of people claim that the RHAs sound quality are vastly superior to the SE215. However I am used to using $30 earphones and having to replace them every year because they break. So the durability and comfortability of SE215 is very enticing for me. 1. Are the MA750i (of even the GR07BE) that much better sounding then the SE215 that they are worth the extra $30 and loss in comfort? 2. One of the SE215's biggest selling points are their build quality. Are the other IEMs similar in which they can survive for over 3 years and be pretty much abused the whole time? I really don't want to buy $130 earphones only to have to buy new ones after a few years. If it makes a difference I pretty much listen exclusively to rap/ hip-hop

Windows 10 is actually pretty decent

So my computer decided to update on Windows 10 on its own. At first I was really pissed off, but after using it for 2 days, I actually start to really like my Windows 10 now. It looks a lot nicer than windows 7, it boots faster, and the new Windows updated automatically fixed all my drivers problems without me having to search for them on the internet. So why does /g/ hate 10 so much? I think its a lot nicer than 7 and definitely 8. I also heard they are now getting linux compatibility support. So what's the big deal with people not liking Windows 10? It's pretty darn good in my opinion.

Networking Noob Thread

I'm a networking noob, I barely know a piss of networking and my IT course is teaching me network+ crap. Since I'm nearly clueless with networking, Net+ isn't the worst place to start I suppose, but I need resources for learning at least basic (CCENT level maybe) networking. Thanks for any help. Also, any thought on doing pic related as a career path? It seems interesting. Also looking for necessary certs to establish and maintain networks.

If any of you can crack the code, you will forever change the election. DC Madam's attorney has hidden an election bombshell. It is due to be released in two weeks. http://www.usnews.com/news/articles/2016-03-31/dc-madams-attorney-says-election-bombshell-already-online >“There’s a link right now, that if you had, you would have access to the records,” Sibley says about the website. “If I die, disappear, whatever, they will be out.” Sibley says his website hosts PDFs of Palfrey call logs that contain about 5,000 phone numbers, along with downloadable spreadsheets that contain the names and addresses of 815 Verizon Wireless customers from those logs, which he acquired with a subpoena ahead of Palfrey’s trial. The story from a fellow anon: >woman known as "DC Madam" runs high-end escort service in DC for over ten years >amasses large database of high powered politicians and their sexual encounters with her hookers >she gets investigated, walls start closing in on her >"dies mysteriously" in 2007, hanging in her mom's backyard shed is considered a suicide >but before her death, she gace all her information to her lawyer >after her death, lawyer was put on gag order, making it illegal for him to release the data >story gets forgotten for years >2016 election comes >the lawyer wants to release the information because it is "very relevant" to this election >he has set an ultimatum of 2 weeks. if the courts dont lift the gag order in 2 weeks, he's gonna do it (madman.jpg) >info will also be released automatically >he set up four servers across the world, and if he doesnt enter a password every three days, the information will be sent to a bunch of media outlets >this "dead man trigger" style system helps protect him from "disappearing" The only possible people to be hurt by this are Cruz or Hillary (or even Kasich). Nexus 5X vs iPhone SE

Upgrading from an iPhone 4S. Help me decide /g/. I like the nexus because of its webm support(for 4chan) and because I prefer stock android to having to jailbreak on iOS to get all the good stuff (next jailbreak release fucken when). I do, however also like the iPhone SE because of its compact size and relatively higher build quality(camera and cpu and shit). Help me rid of my indecision, /g/ents.

Spotify or Pandora?

7 more posts in this thread. [Missing image file: ]
Streaming music has grown bigger than downloads- if Spotify and Pandora were your only streaming options, which would you choose and why? Because Pandora isn't available in most countries, mention the country you live in. I prefer Pandora because I can train it to play stations that work well for me. Spotify is good for shorter playlists that I select, but I like the utility of turning to a station and not knowing what's coming next but having it fit my mood. I also think there are more possibilities for Pandora to add value to my music experience in the future (using data to get me new music or relevant concert tickets). I'm in the U.S.
