Never owned one before, or even played with one, but I'm considering in investing. Few questions though...
1) How locked down is music? I have quite a plethora of tracks, but I don't know how the iPhone would handle non-apple formats, that is, if they only use their own propitiatory format, I'm not certain if they do.
2) Will I be bombarded with notices about joining Apple specific services such as iTunes, whatever cloud functionality they use, and the like? I'm not a fan of services that are interconnected--although I do enjoy the easy of access--simply because they promote a locked down environment, where I prefer one more open and customizable.
3) Would rooting the phone open up more functionality? I often root my android phones to install free tethering apps and the like. Does an iPhone prevent such functionality even when it's rooted? What are the benefits of rooting the iPhone?
Appreciate the applefag feedback, might make a converter out of me yet.
