Bots in Gaming

216 more posts in this thread. [Missing image file: bot-farming2.png]
Here's a great DEFCON presentation on subverting the WoW API - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EnmoI2dRwX4 Avoiding the debate over whether bots are harming gaming - let's talk about the programming behind them. I consider MMO playing Bots to be really impressive programming feats, I wouldn't mind making a bot that can play ANY kind of game by itself (check out this bot that uses TETRIS to draw images using algorithms http://youtu.be/PJkHwulsac4) - SO: Has anyone USED a bot before, and if so in what game? Has anyone MADE a script that can play games automatically before? And finally - what's your opinion on bots? Are they cool, or a travesty of misplaced talent and effort?

Encrypt your shit.

>2013 >not making the NSA work for your shit As you've probably heard, our government has been caught snarfing up phone calls, emails, and all manner of shit they are not supposed to have. Want to annoy a bureaucrat? Encrypt your shit! Step 1: Get ahold of GPG (GNU privacy guard). This is a FOSS application. Linux users probably already have this. Windows users need GPG4Win, Mac users need to either get it from Macports, or install GPGTools for mail integration. Step 2: Generate a key. Your app will probably walk you through this. Make sure to include an email address (doesn't have to be valid if you don't want to - i'd suggest a throwaway like the one I'm using) Do not under any circumstances choose a key length below 1024 bytes, preferrably use 2048 or 4096. You'll end up with a public key and a private key. Use a passphrase for your public key when prompted. What this means is, your key itself is encrypted with a password. It's another layer of protection should that keyfile ever be accessed by an attacker. Step 3: Share your public key. Your app probably has an "upload to keyserver" option. Other people who then want to send you messages can just pull your key from the server and email you with the address you gave on the key. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.13 (MingW32) - WinPT 1.4.3 Charset: UTF-8 iQEcBAEBAgAGBQJRykRPAAoJEDS6C7owMBHwBIkH+wbZH949dq30YWLS9LEAgreQ Ck4/ld4nI/0EnMi3FNDVMJhFQ9EWjOev2+f09NqaS8lnptfHtimOkiGt5szafEek ogpkcL4U1vqUULjTAfNknTTqCYWbs3vqWO0uvVpNncxuBOvb5BfK5MltdiEJIBXG vmQQUIMMzpvuA1hAPng2tTKhK1znDfmKoKINMUHIm8+eTKGZTNyhL6k9y3Xs08Js ZF6yIqzJZxK201jqGZSyCeZs+ExcIKfOAaSORScD1t4WZR+mdyVdjCdSMM6icwoc m0vqWbfxGspT4qbRGxg46lYm8XIgcS6ZOdhdjb2aWJQA7ul5UYbRc5OryQ/7g04= =UHCp -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----

Current IRC: #InsertProjectNameHere on Freenode or https://webchat.freenode.net/ Current Forum: projecttox.weareltk.com GIT: https://github.com/irungentoo/InsertProjectNameHere Proposal of a free as in freedom Skype replacement: --------Basics--------: -UDP most be used for everything simply because you can't do hole punching with TCP (well you can but it doesn't work all the time) -Every peer is represented as a byte string (the client id) (it is the hash (SHA-256 ?) of the public key of the peer). (if you want to add someone you need that id.) -Use something torrent DHT style so that peers can find the ip of the other peers when they have their id. -Once the client has the ip of that peer they start initiating a secure connection with each other.(asymmetric encryption(RSA?) is used to encrypt the session keys for the symmetric(AES?) encryption so that they are exchanged securely) (We can't use public key encryption for everything it's too fucking slow) man in the middle attacks are avoided because the id is the hash of the public key (the client can be sure it's legit.) -When both peers are securely connected with AES they can securely exchange messages, initiate a video chat, send files, etc... -Your client stores the id of the peers along with their public keys used to initiate the connection (this is your contacts list) Are there any features that Skype has failed to convey that you would like to see added? An example we though of so far was channels for random discussions, like in IRC.

Was trying to find out if microsoft and google ever got that youtube app business sorted out, and came across an article about Gmail Blue and the crappy Bing joke they did April 1st. Came across this and had a laugh.

Is there free, maybe open source, software for linux that allows you to host an instant messaging service, while allowing windows clients to connect and send messages? I'm trying to switch my friends over to skype since the NSA is recording everything on there.

Sup /g/ Usually i'm not one for Tech Support threads but I've tried fucking everything I know. So I beseech you and your wisdom. Helped a friend Build a computer a few days ago, everything runs swell, but upon booting he has to unplug and replug his headset, which uses the lime and pink jacks, in order to get sound and mic to work. What we've tried: Installing/Reinstalling Mobo Drivers Installing/Removing the headset drivers Installing/Removing Realtek Audio Manager Using Front ports or Back Ports I've googled this problem to shit and can't find anything that has been of any use. It's most likely not a motherboard issue as I updated it to the latest bios before giving him the board, and everything works fine if they're plugged directly into the motherboard. (i.e. not through the case jacks) The only issue here is that he doesn't want to use the back ports due to length restrictions on his headset cord. Thanks in advanced guys.
