Well. /g/, I am a casual computer user and my dingy old acer aspire has given me too much trouble. I am ready to upgrade. I have basically a blank check with my college loans in which I can use to purchase a laptop.
I have been tempted to get a macbook pro.
It's stupidly expensive, I have been vehemently against apple products (I think you all have influenced me a bit. 10%), but damn, it's sexy. It's not my money (albeit it being my debt), so why not splurge.
Not gaming, not programing, and not doing art. It's a faptop/school laptop/internet machine.
why is it a good idea, why is it bad.
And what's the opinion on booting windows on the thing? I am far more familiar with windows.
Also, macbook pro thread. Advice, experiences, ect.

I've been using a PS/2 mouse. Today, I turned on the computer and the cursor wouldn't move. A couple of restarts/shutdowns didn't help, so I gave up and shut off the computer for a while. Now it works, and I'm not sure what I did differently.
I've heard that unplugging and replugging PS/2 devices while the computer is on can cause damage to the port, and I'm not sure if I did this, but should I really worry about this now that the mouse is working again? (Should I even worry at all if I'm using a modern motherboard? It's a Gigabyte board if that matters.)
I'm switching to a USB mouse anyway, but I'm just worried that I damaged something, even if it's something I might not use regularly.
