Anime/Manga/Cartooning Thread "No matter how much you know of anatomy and the construction of the figure, you will not be able to draw figures form imagination until you can relate the different parts of the figure to a horizon." Previous Thread: >>1793724 A general message to aspiring artists: "Lack of knowledge can be greater torture than the effort of acquiring it. When all is said and done, nature is your best instructor." Submit your drawings, receive feedback or critique others! Share your knowledge and remember to thank those who've critiqued or red-lined your drawings. Most importantly, have fun. This thread is meant for artists who might want to try to make stylized work in-between their studies. It is strongly recommended that you use this thread in conjunction with learning the elements and fundamentals of art. You can also discuss the visual elements of various professional artists as well if you keep it relatively articulate and civil. >Fresh off the boat? I don't see whats so great about Bob Ross, fair enough if you like him, but to me it seems like his stuff is not only generic as fuck, but looks like the shitty posters rednecks hang in their hunting cabins in my opinion it doesn't compare to to any of the great landscape artists, whether they are classical or modern what type of art do you guys like, trying to get a actual good thread instead of >hurr durrr modern art is shit >hurr durr animu thread

PHOTOBASHING done RIGHT

63 more posts in this thread. [Missing image file: ]
for those of us who are serious about paying the rent with this shit, it's time to start realizing that we won't go far without being able to use photos. to which degree, is up to our moral standards and whatnot, and personally i would never put photobashes in my folio (fucking disgrace), but it's just what it takes in order to meet a clients needs. so lets see some guys who do this RIGHT. polish photoshop monkeys need not apply. please can we try to keep the thread clean? no posting shitty artists to troll. and no moral debate, if you disagree with photobashing, just leave.

Thoughts on Colored Pencils? I have never used any artists quality ones and I wanted to see if they are something worth spending time and money on. Can you make fine art works with them, or are they completely sided to hobbyists and cartoonists?

So what makes CalArts so special? Are they teaching some secret techniques never before seen to outsiders? Do they teach anything that someone with a bit of internet and some books couldn't learn? Or is it just some reputation kind of thing?

Whats so great about Jaime Jones?

Can someone explain this to me? I mean his paintings are alright but I think many people praise him so much just because it seems like everyone else do it, and since masses do that it must be right and if you dont then you clearly have no idea about art and shit. Like there are tons of other digital painters who do very similar stuff, I dont see anything that makes him really stand out.
