>starving artist Is art/painting a financially dead career? It seems like only the superstars make it and everyone else is starving. Is this because drawing/painting aren't rare skills anymore? What is the most lucrative form of art? Sculpture? Drawing porn? I don't get it...

Thoughts on furry art and commissions?

9 more posts in this thread. [Missing image file: ]
I am looking into doing commissions at the request of furrys, I have no interest in the whole and craze and actually find (some of ) them to be quite repulsive. Although I have no moral or ethical conflict when it comes to drawing whatever there furry hearts desire. I hear it's a sure fire way to earn some cash. I've seen the artwork that people in this community are paying for and so I know I am capable of producing a product of a higher standard. Does anyone have any knowledge/tips on this subject? Will I actually have to befriend some fags or earn a rep before anyone will approach me?

How do I render properly?

52 more posts in this thread. [Missing image file: ]
Hey IC How do I render, Im trying to incorporate tones and values but it just looks really gloomy, are there any settings I should be working at instead to make a smoother render? I would be greatful if you guys could provide tutorials or help me out, anyone capable of streaming or skyping to explain the rendering process will really be appreciated. pic related; trying to render just looks like blobs rather than smooth skin muscle. ps- Anatomy might be wrong also but it was just a quick sketch to try and do some rendering over. canvas is custom 3840x2160 (2x1920x1080) Res per inch = 300.

Hi IC I started out by learning to paint and now to strengthen my fundamentals I am going back to drawing. Do you have any great men to study from? The sticky has a lot of pics but they're not really high quality and they only reflect a very modern outlook. I just really want to see amazing draftsman at work I guess Picture is by Heinrich Kley

http://www.artsjournal.com/letters/20040310-11773.shtml Is art dead? So far I agree with the page into that we had gotten the point painting and sculpture has become obsolete in the sense that they got their final step of their evolution. Some few examples: There was a post of 4chan that was sold in 100k in eBay about how that post was art. There was 16k raised for a museum of emptiness. There is that picture of empty canvases.

Does anyone on /ic/ suffer from any form of depression? How does one illustrate, or be creative when depressed? I heard great artists can use their depression to create great work, but I find whenever I go through bouts of depression, the majority of my abilities leave me, and I'm just frustrated at my lack of ability. Sorry if this shit belongs on /adv/, but I think I could get a better answer from you guys.

Anime/Manga/Cartooning Thread "Success comes only with personal effort, aided by whatever knowledge the individual can apply along with the effort. If this were not true, we would be able to do anything in the world simply by reading books." Previous Thread: >>1801324 A general message to aspiring artists: "Lack of knowledge can be greater torture than the effort of acquiring it. When all is said and done, nature is your best instructor." Submit your drawings, receive feedback or critique others! Share your knowledge and remember to thank those who've critiqued or red-lined your drawings. Most importantly, have fun. This thread is meant for artists who might want to try to make stylized work in-between their studies. It is strongly recommended that you use this thread in conjunction with learning the elements and fundamentals of art. You can also discuss the visual elements of various professional artists as well if you keep it relatively articulate and civil. >Fresh off the boat?
