Just spent the weekend drawing this tattoo for a friend. What do you think and what do you think it represents? I just want to see if I'm portraying the message he wanted.

Dear d/ic/heads, I am currently trying to improve my ability to draw freehanded without reference material. Human being bodies are particularly difficult. Ive drawn from still photos most of my life and rarely from living subjects. Is this one of the problems? Have i screwed myself over by not taking life drawings more srsly?

Yo, I've been drawing for about 3 years now and I'm actually pretty good at it, but, I'm looking to fine tune my skills in terms of figure drawing and I'm not much of an online tutorial person. So could anyone recommend a good figure drawing book to me (preferably in the non-expensive range)

motivation

Help motivate me /ic/ . been having some trouble lately. any tips or something that could get me doing more art? i started a job a month ago, a 8hr overnight shift. it's seasonal so i may not have it after christmas, but when i come home i tend to relax and prop my feet up cuzz theyre sore from walking around stocking stuff for hours on end. i tend to play vidya with my feet propped up or some movie/anime/tv show. eventually it gets around noon and i sleep and i got to work a few hours after i wake up. i'm sure there's somethin i can do. i think i've gotten myself flipped around too much and my old routine has been messed up. should i try and setup a time everyday to do art? should i simply create and create aimlessly , instead of trying to create something specific. i feel like i'm being too closed minded when i try and create and it causes me to simply not create at all. thanks for any help :)

Hey /ic/, as someone who's new to drawing, I'm finding it kind of difficult to keep a schedule and really figure out the best order in which to practice things. I got all the Loomis books and the Basic Photoshop Rendering video series from CTRL+Paint, but I feel like maybe I got too much info at once, and don't really know how to progress? Any tips or general thoughts on the most logical order of progression?

Hey /ic/, I know this isn't directly related to your board, but what is a great resource for learning 2D animation in Flash? (hopefully frame-by-frame animation in addition to tweening) I haven't found anything in Gnomon or Lynda aside from rudimentary rigging for tweens. Thanks in advance /ic/, much love :3

What was the point of dadaism? Besides being some dark and edgy 2deep4u pseudo-intellectual nonsense, what purpose does it serve in history? Why is it even documented/recorded, let alone as art?

Hey /ic/, I'm a big fan of portrait studies, but I can't find very many to draw. Are there online galleries of like 18-20th century portraits? So far I've just been using Google images. Pic related, that kinda stuff.

http://www.animwork.dk/files/pdf/BAC/portfolio_requirements_ca_eng.pdf Im considering applying for this Character Animation education. It lasts 3½ years. Does anyone know anything about it? There are these portfolio requirements: Containing: Drama / acting / (min. 6 drawings): Drawings in this category should depict characters who are expressing emotion/feeling. From reading the character's body language the viewer should be able to tell what the character’s mood or feelings are. 2. Movement (min. 6 drawings): Drawings in this category should depict characters who are in motion; walking, jumping, dancing or doing sports; in short, any situation where the character is in a movement. 3. Storytelling (min. 5 panels / drawings) Make a sequence of drawings that visually tells a story or a sequence of events. Consider staging, camera angle and posing of the character to tell the story. 4. Life drawing (min. 8 drawings) Drawings that show proper anatomy, size proportions, understanding of shape, body dynamics and weight of the figure. Does anyone know how "good" they should be? Skillwise. How much understanding of each subject is required?
