Does anyone have the list of recommended anatomy books mentioned by Jordu Schell in Gnomon's Sculpting and Painting the Maquette? The CGP torrent doesn't have it.

I am going to receive my payment and, as I have started one month ago in an art school and am beginning to learn how to draw. I like to read and write (that’s my main goal and the area of activity on which I invest most of my energy) but decided to expand my knowledge of art to the visual arts, not in a deeply serious mood, but more on a ludic vein. I am thinking in buying some books that will help me to learn faster. I don’t have much money, but I am thinking in buying some 5 or 6 books. I want to ask you guys who have already years of experience with drawing the following question: >If you could buy, let’s say, only 6 books on drawing, what books would you buy? What are the absolute best books, the ones that are indispensable to you, the ones that you keep using and reading for years? One that I bought and that is truly helpful is Perspective Made Easy, but I need more. Can you guys and girls help me?

Modern, abstract art is pure bullshit

Not all of it, that's true. But I got a felling most actual art is labeled that way 'cause a snob trips too much on what art is. >inb4 hurr duur you should be more open-minded dude How the fuck can I be open-minded when pic related is sold as if were the pinnacle of art? >such technique >"oh the artist really meant" fuckyoufuckyoufuckyoufuckyoufuckyou

What's the best social website for keeping up to date with the endless amateur, semi-professional, and professional artists on the net? At one time it was probably deviant-art, at least on the semi-professional/armature side of it, what would you say it would be now?

Is there even a point in learning how to draw with a mouse (with Lazy Nezumi for example)? I don't have shekels for a tablet atm.

Who deserves the title of Artist of the Year 2015? My vote goes for pic related, Zedig, he's just done so much stuff this year and has been developing a new aesthethic never before seen, he totally deserves it. Peleng on the other hand has not done shit this year, and Mike Azevedo was AOTY last year but this year he was very meh. http://alexandrediboine.tumblr.com/

I recently read that most concept artists these days spend hours a day shitting out vast quantities of art for extremely minor components of movies and tv shows for extremely low pay and difficult hours how true is this statement?

What do you think of Tim's Vermeer, /ic/? This guy with absolutely no painting skill replicated it with the instruments Vermeer could get his hands on, on top of that Vermeer doesn't do under paintings or sketches beforehand, he just laid the paint on, on top of even that all the lens issues that Vermeer would have painted are there in his paintings, but Tim caught on to it. Do you think this blurs the line between artist and inventor/whatever? Picture related. There's also a documentary on it which I highly recommend.

got a tattoo from a black guy unfimiliar with sci fi, it is a dot work UFO and he did it upside down Im not actualy mad about it, its pretty funny but that wont last so i need ideas to fix it and i thought this would be the place for artistic ideas that keep with the theme and have limited constraints my idea is to just tattoo a cow about it(right way up) with a question mark above its head give me ur ideas without changing the actual UFO

Ambient Occlusion

Hello /ic/ I come to you with a question. Do any of you by chance, have a tutorial on ambient occlusion painting? Im very interested in learning it, as I enjoy the look it gives 2d art. SO far I have found a few touch in tutorials on it, and one in Russian, that looks like it is actually very well done, I tried following it, but I don't speak Russian, so yeah... My problem is, I'm too focused on darks as shadows, and my AO attempts just turn to shadow layers, I can't quite shake it off. Any help would be appreciated
