Woah, so glad this board exists!
Hello /ic/, absolute newfriend in here and I was wandering if I can ask you a question, since the sticky didnt answer it.
Now before I ask, I want to mention that I have absolutely no knowledge about anything art related, I am an 19 years old, engineering school and have never knew a single thing about pictures or art, I do not know a single thing about art, but something got me interesting.
Maybe I am easily impressed but, this pictures were so god fucking damn awesome and since I have a bit of free time and money, I want to ask you: what is required for me to be able to do this? Ever since I saw these, I wanted to start drawing things, it was simply fucking awesome.
So my question to you is:
What exactly do I need to google?
Could I do it? (assume I am an absolute disgrace, even my technical thingies I need to draw look disgusting)
What equipment is this done with?
Approximate time it would take for absolute no talent person
Thanks for reading all of this, I am looking forward to discover what is this that I want to do so badly.
I will bump a few pictures I found impressive and that I would like to be able to do.

Welcome to ArtPG. This is an /ic/ draw game with no mandatory requirements to advance. You can follow silently on your own terms or you can post and contribute. The adventure takes place in an ‘alternate Gaea’ similar to our earth in all but a few ways:
>This planet is larger and has more trees which make more oxygen. As a result, all life forms are much bigger. Humans are exempt (mostly).
>The dinosaur extinction event never happened. Instead, lizards slowly devolved as mammals came into the picture. The Pleistocene extinction event never happened either, leaving us today with relatively large animals inhabiting much of the world.
>World population floats around 1 billion. Civilized settlements are magnificent walled cities. Settlements that are unwalled are considered derelict, dangerous, etc.
>Human technology is about 150 years ahead of us now. Cities are linked by hyper rail. Electromagnetic receivers allow devices to be powered anywhere a human can step on or below the surface (and up to 35 miles above). The rich have access to limited personal levitation devices. DNA splicing has developed recently.
>There is no military because these humans have realized that war is not the answer. There is a central government that operates on some amazingly fair philosophy that Earth humans cannot comprehend so I won’t mention it. There is still crime and typical problems of Earth however.
This world is a land of archetypes and mythology. The dangers are infinite and people have to cooperate to survive. You however, are on a solo journey to a mountain range that is the site of an asteroid strike. The central government confirms via satellite the crater contains an immense wealth of new metals and minerals. Despite this, no one has dared brave the journey to this site. You bring with you an explorer’s sketchbook, where you will record major events that happen to you, roughly three times a week. How you make it to the crater is up to you.

So I recently graduated from art school with a major in illustration. Now i'm looking to do freelance work and I have been looking for a long time, since April actually. I have yet to land anything at all.
Now i'm not yet to the point where I am ready to give up, I know how difficult this field is. Still I have had my moments of wanting to throw in the towel for a few short minutes, but I usually snap out of that mainframe. Despite that, I still cannot help but think i am doing something wrong or maybe going about it wrong. That or my work is just absolutely horrible and I would never get hired anywhere anyway.
I am not expecting job recommendation, just some knowledge from folks who have been in my shoes to maybe let me know if I am going about this freelance business the wrong way and what I could do to better market myself. Please help if anyone is out there!
Pic related my current skill level.

How do I get people to view my stuff without being a total attention whore? I don't want to spam other people with compliments just so they visit my tumblr, I don't want to be a desperate little shit and post links to my work on every internet board I can think of, I don't want to annoy people on facebook with "look at me and my work, I'm so awesome" bullshit. I would hate myself for becoming one of those shitheads
I thought posting regularly might work but all I get is three to four views a day (which might just be me lol)
Anyway, I'm pretty sure my work is pretty decent, decent enough that studios want to hire me but according to the views I get it's shittier than sonic fanart.
Any advice? Should I do sonic fanart?
Also I'm not posting my work. Everytime someone does that the thread derails into a shitfest
