Hey /ic/ basically, i'm studying media and communication right now, so I want to start getting used to photoshop. I want to be able to make cool commercial images, mostly from photos, but I also want to be able to create my own images from scratch, if I have something on my mind that I want to make an image out of. What programs should I get for this? Is Photoshop enough?

recently i've come back to drawing, but this time i really wanted to improve and started studying basic stuff i have never actually taken seriously. i've got much better since then and the process was fun and i felt satisfied.
however, i've been feeling depressed and frustrated because i'm not improving as much as i want anymore. i have the feeling i'm getting worse, actually. i've become more exigent and learning isn't fun anymore. i get angry and feel literally sick when i can't do something right, and doing things right has become more difficult to me. sometimes i can't concentrate and have the urge to puke.
how do i stop that? i want drawing to be fun again. to improve, i need to be exigent, but if i can't reach my expectations i get really frustrated and want to quit.
pic related. i did the first one by the time i stoped drawing and i did the second one a few days ago. but i'm not even near the quality level i want to achieve. the flaws in the second drawing still pisses me off.

I have an interesting problem. I've a lot of technical skills and I find that I don't do much that has a lot of creative/expressive energy to it.
However, last night I had a dream and there was this artsy and somewhat unstable girl in it who I was talking to. Apparently she too, was an artist and she painted/drew several things that I found very creative. They were awesome and in my dream, I recalled saying how I'd like to be able to make things like that.
When I woke up, I sat there for a second thinking about her, and then said, "Wait a minute, that was in MY dream, those were my inventions"
So, what I'm trying to figure out, is that clearly I may have this untapped potential, and apparently it's a girl that creates these images. How do I invoke what's in my dream and/or pull that subconscious to my conscious to create what I long to do?

This isn't exactly board-related, but I figure you guys will know better than anyone else.
When I try to use my tablet with MS Paint, it's really jerky and laggy, which makes drawing in Paint nearly impossible. I don't have any problems in Photoshop or any other program, just Paint. Is there a settings tweak I need to fix to help MSP process the tablet input or what?
Thanks guys, you're all better than me.
Any one care to assist?

So my scanner is broken, and paint can't create good drawing for shit, so I was wondering if anyone would be able add on the body to this avatar I'm making? I'd really appreciate it alot!! I just want a short sleeve, maybe a blue scarf, and some dark baggy pants. So, if anyone can help me with this, seriously, thank you!
A serious request

Hello drawfags, I have a request.
I am creating a series of three Hamsa for a metalworking class. I plan to enamel the Hamsa and then fire a decal on the top of them. However, I am not able to draw with the coordination it takes to do a perfectly to scale design for the decals of my Hamsa. So here's the deal:
Draw 1 to 3 Hamsa with a similar outline to the one posted (circular palm and relative proportions of the entire hand most important, but neither are necessary, especially if you are drawing three.)
I will get your email address and send you a picture of the finished product a week from tomorrow, Thursday the eighteenth.
I get better art from your art, your art gets melted into a piece of copper, and your moniker gets duly recognized as the creator of said art.
