>Getting into painting. >Got some cash from working, so got myself some paints and a easel. Not got canvases yet, but can use cardboard primed with white gessepo to practice. Got 3 primary coulors and black and white. Also got a few random colours laying around. I tried painting a portrait but I think my main problem is sultelty. I just seem to make big blogs of colours that look child like. Any tips? Anywhere good to learn techniques and such. I'm decent at sketching in pencil, been doing it since I was little, never used colour or paint however, never had the money too until now. 18 now.

Hi guys. I want to start taking commissions for digital illustrations but there are a few things I'm unsure of. Do people consider digital art to be of less value than physically crafted works? Do you make the customer pay up front before you begin or is it a case of trusting that they'll pay once you're finished and they're happy with it? I have no idea what I should charge for my work. I think I'm a decent artist but I don't want to put too much value on my work. Don't want to undersell myself either. Pic related is a thing I did just for fun. A commission for a customer would be done with a lot more care. Thinks of taking portrait commissions as birthday gifts or memorials. Any pointers from you guys would be a huge help. And please be as critical of my work as you like! (Yes, it's supposed to be Snoop Dogg and I really fucked up the likeness.) Thanks.

No matter how much I practice, I never seem to get better. I've been drawing a lot for about two years now and I still fucking suck. How did you guys learn? I've been drawing for hours each day and have been making no progress.

>had fun drawing >drew what I wanted >only thing that helped me out of my crippling depression >decide it's something I want to do in my life >couple years later realize how competitive art is >feel like people are laughing when I draw >feel terrible about my artwork >intimidated by the art community everyday how do I be happy again? I just want to draw and have fun with it.

Where is the best website to find old master paintings in good resolution categorized neatly? Using Google Images is starting to get annoyingly difficult.

Hey, /ic/. I'm having trouble deciding if this pose is wonky or not. :( I've looked for wall climbing stock, but mostly it's just "models" trying to do spiderman and not even the angle i need. Help is much appreciated.

Im so depressed. Im at the point where im supposed to be finding a job. Living off my parents. Supposed to be good and stuff yet after 3 hours of work i come up with this shit. I work everyday as hard as i can from the moment i wake up until i go to sleep. I do studies. I apply what i learn. I try to cultivate myself and learn about history and stuff. I see all these amazing artists poping out every minute on my Facebook with incredible work. Shits getting me nowhere. Im not smart enough for this. wtf ic, u told me if i worked hard id get good. Is constructing figures from imagination supposed to be super hard at first? What's a good book/artist to start studying to get better at drawing figures entirely from imagination? Or should I continue grinding through Fun with a Pencil, Keys to Drawing, Dynamic Anatomy and Constructive Anatomy? Is it bad that I'm trying to read 4 books at once? Am I supposed to practice figure drawing with models several thousand times in order to be able to just know where shit fits on a gesture that I come up with myself? what's a good way to practice construction anyway?
