[Missing image file: Waiting For Drone Records to Come i(...).jpg]

Let's start a j-music/k-music/Otaku-music thread.

I'll start:

When it comes to poppy stuff I like Suga Shikao, B'z, Ayumi Hamasaki, TUBE, Arashi, FLiP (Damn awesome), Abingdon Boys School, KPP, Shiina Ringo/Tokyo Jihen, Perfume, anything by Nakata really, Kana Hanazawa, etc to tired to think of more.

When it comes to other stuff I listen to Boris, World's End Girlfriend, Syrup16g, ART-SCHOOL, supercell, Nujabes, Boredoms, Yuki Kajiura, Yoko Kanno, Fushitsusha, Ground Zero, MASS OF THE FFERMENTING DREGS and recently I discovered Ling Tosite Sigure (??????), through PSYCHO-PASS, first anime I picked up in over 2 years.

I'm still trying to like Touhou music, but for some reason I don't enjoy it that much. ;_;

As for k-music, B2ST, T-ara, SHINEe, MBLAQ, and JYJ. All others are garbage.

What's does /jp/ listen to?

Picture is what I ordered recently, still didn't get it.

What's wrong? Like I said there are good artists but the majority is garbage.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZAzWT8mRoR0

What amazes me is that the concept that k-pop in built upon is directly taken from Japan. They basically took the same concept of manufactured idols and ran away with it, leaving the Japanese in the dust. It's funny how big k-pop artists are in Japan right now.

But I guess that's Korea. Steal everything from other countries but make it 10 times better.

If you look at the music industry in other Asian countries like Japan and even Taiwan, you'll notice that it's all over the place with no clear direction.

In Korea, the industry has a direction that everyone who works in it understands and follows. Even the small things like always releasing music videos in a timely fashion in good quality on well organized YouTube channels is a tool that is used to great success. This is why i find k-pop interesting, even if the medium is very shallow.

Korea is a poor man's Japan. They have some good things like food, but... well I actually can't think of anything else.

They're so proud of being Koreans and love their own country, everyone is so fiercely nationalistic there but really they have nothing to be proud of historically. It's kinda paradoxical.

I really like Jungle, and as such I really like the stuff by ??????/??????G (Cycehouts/Cycheouts Ghost). They mostly make Jungle but occasionally make some Grime and Dubstep. Their LPs on A-10 records and ROMZ are worth tracking down.

Samples:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0DvhFdTf7Vs
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IPWq0s2pmps

Not a huge amount of samples to display what they are capable of. Traffic Jammies are kind of similar as well.

There was a jpopsuki freeleech recently.

I don't even know where to start, I downloaded everything, from obscure avant stuff to mainstream idol j/k-pop, and there's still SO MUCH to download.

There's so many tags to fix and sort out and things to do. I'm too fucking autistic/OCD, I want to listen to all and everything.

It makes me mad that I'll probably never check out all these artists. I'll most likely end myself, it's the only way to escape it.

I have fallen in love with the japanese interpretation of math/post rock. Toe, Dinner, Lite and A picture of her, are all really good.

I also checked out some japanese screamo recently. Listened to Envy and heaven in her arms, and liked both of them. It's actually possible to understand what they are yelling for a change. Does anyone know of any screamo touhou music? It might be interesting.

I don't listen to touhou music that much anymore, sadly. My favorite album is probably pic related.

I used to be really big on following Utada Hikaru (hiatus) and Perfume (very much same sound from before) and anisongs.

Right now I'm very hooked on those nicosingers that cover Vocaloid songs. For some reason, I really like them even if they aren't produced quite as good from the mainstream kind.

I used to like KPOP as well, until every week spouted a new group. I used to follow: SHINEe, 2AM, TVXQ and B2ST.

Yeah, I also tried dancing but I never got good.

Why are you only listening to music with lyrics you can understand? Music just isn't about the lyrics, there's good music from all over the world.

Number Girl have a more straight forward punk sound compared to Pixies. Their style is somewhat similar and Pixies were obviously one of their inspirations but calling them a rip off is fucking insulting and reductionist.

I listen to nothing but doujin music. It's not that other japanese music doesn't have charm, it's just easier for me to find doujinshi. Also, no one talks about anything but doujinshi on /jp/, so I know very little about it.

I listen to some casual vocaloid arrangements, classical, jazz, swing, disco and almost all types of electronic music (trance, hardcore, whatever). I'd like to say my interests are varied, but they really aren't.

Yeah, see a psychiatrist. If you think you might have a neurological disorder that shit is highly recommended. I don't know exactly how they diagnose autism spectrum disorders but I don't think it's all that intrusive. I mostly had to fill out self evaluation forms and test my cognitive abilities, I was mainly being tested for ADHD though. They might want you to talk about your feelings in this case.

Likewise.

I also discover music by listening to last.fm radio, and by visiting local cafes to see if anyone is playing there.

When I'm really focused, I listen to older music - particularly finding the artists that influenced the artists that I listen to, and take notes regarding the sound design and production techniques.

You shouldn't be embarassed to talk to a professional when it concerns your health; they see dozens of people like you every day, and likely have heard it all. They've gone through years of schooling and experience to prepare themselves to respond appropriately and give you the best care possible. And if they don't, you can get a lawyer involved.

They can even refer you to other specialists or therapists who specialize in a field more relevant to your needs. By all means, go for it if you can afford it - you have nothing to lose aside from a little time and money. =)

I don't mind circle-jerking a bit if you're a qt. My charts are pretty bland right now though. I just started this account after quitting last-fm 5ever a while back. Link in the e-mail field.

So is Jpop capable of sexy? Another bloody KPop group once again shows how much more mature they are with this...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t0IKUhydr_8

It is like KPop realize what Western Audience want while Japan in general fumbles around in getting the Western Audience whenever they try.

Idk, I've been exposed to a lot of k-pop lately and I got used to their plastic faces, I find them very attractive. Now I consider them more attractive than Japanese girls (except Kaho, Erika Toda, Maaya Uchida, Yu Aoi, and Aoi Miyazaki, they're perfect).

I can listen to regular top 40. But really, Japan forgot that sex sells. Or more importantly, tasteful sex sells.

Word, some of them will undoubtedly go to Japan and shoot some JAV. There's way too many fucking idols, and not all of them are going to be rich and successful when their groups die. Well, same goes for Japanese idol groups too (but stuff like that already happeneed).
