hello /jp/
I'm doing low-bitrate adaptation TLMC for portable players.
Encoding to HE-AAC v2 48kbps. Estimated size about 65Gb. Now i'm sorting garbage, remove dupes, add some cover art. Complete about 16%. If someone interested - first part available on torrent download.

>HE-AAC v2 48kbps
Who the fuck would want to listen to that? Is this supposed to be played on phone speakers?

It's not so bad, as you think.
AAC have special add-on to maintain acceptable quality over extreme low bitrate, like spectral band replicating and parametric stereo.

Isn't Opus better?

dunno.
I found test Opus vs HE-AAC at 64kbps, but not lower bitrate.
And how it works on portable players? HE-AAC v2 can play even my old Motorolla L7e, newer players and phones can play too.
But i take time and try test Opus.

Your freedom must not restrict freedom of others
And Vorbis not suited for such low bitrate. Opus mentioned here maybe, but not Vorbis.

The official site has 48kbps music samples.

Convert the uncompressed to whatever to compare.

I'm really looking forward to it!
I don't have neither space nor patience to download the entire collection to my computer, but I'll be fine keeping a highly compressed version and go through it looking for jems whenever I feel it.
Couldn't figure out where to get your partial torrent, though. ;;

My portable android player decode HE-AAC v2 sometimes with sound artefacts, how ironic.

Eh? Better off doing a FLAC version of TLMC because TTA has awful compatibility with hardware/software, FLAC also supports more features than what TTA does.

Use a decent music player on your PC and just transcode to your music player. TTA and FLAC are both lossless after all.
