current noguns here. Live in commiefornia as well, so lets get that out of the way too.
I've always wanted to own a firearm. For personal/home defense, or just to try shooting at a range.
However, because of the impending Ebola SHTF event that will probably be coming in the next few months (you can't possibly say with a straight face that it'll blow over any day now), I've brought up a touchy subject with the folks (again, live in commiefornia...kind of hard to live on your own here unless you make bank) regarding firearm ownership.
Mom is antigun to a point. Occasionally she says "someone should drag out (x) and shoot him" when she sees some despicable excuse for a human being on the news (it's got to be bad, like murder/rape/child abuse bad) but mostly associates guns with gangs and school shootings (thanks, obama), . She does support the use of deadly force in regards to law enforcement (son in law is a sheriff), but for the most part she is anti gun. She definitely does NOT want a firearm in her house.
Dad is pro, but border lining on neutral. I remember growing up he had road rage, and kept a bright orange plastic toy gun in the glove box and whenever we drove by some retard going less than 10 mph the speed limit on the freeway in the fast lane, he'd always say "hand me the gun anon, hand me the gun" and make bang bang noises as he pew pew'd and shouted obscenities at the driver of the car we ended up driving past. However, a toy and the real thing are easily separated in his eyes (he's a newsman; all he deals with each day is murder and mayhem), and knowing that it can potentially cause more harm than good if we owned one is enough to keep him mute on the subject. In his eyes, a happy wife means a happy life, so he will side with mom for the most part on this subject, but I know he would make the decision to own one if he decided that shit was getting too real (again, because of the ebola scare).
