As usual this thread is for the discussion and pics of tracked and wheeled AFVs of all kinds from MBTs to supertanks to self propelled AA guns. Please keep it civil and cite sources for statistics.
With its distinctive hull shape and interior configuration, the Swedish Stridsvagn 103 isn’t your typical “tank”. In service from 1967 to its retirement in 1997, the Strv 103 was a notable outlier from Cold War tank building norms. More of a direct fire self propelled gun than a Main Battle Tank, the Strv 103 was still classified as Sweden’s MBT. Three marks being produced, the Strv 103A, Strv 103B and Strv 103C with a planned but unfinished Strv 103D, the Stridsvagn never saw combat, and was unique in the fact that it had a three man crew without an autoloader, with the compressed and streamlined interior design leading to the driver of the vehicle doubling as the gunner as well. The Stridsvagn is also interesting as doctrine wise, the tank was meant to be used as a static defensive tool, positioned in earthen works and entrenched areas, its low profile lending itself well to static defence and ambush tactics. Assisting in this purpose, all Strv models were equipped with an excavation blade to dig out earth and move obstacles. While 290 units were completed, the Strv was phased out by the Leopard 2 after the 1990s. It remains, even today, the only MBT with a hull mounted main gun, other similar configurations being classified as assault or self propelled guns.

You get drafted into Red Army and sent to Stalingrad in 1942. You are in the 62th Army, fighting fiercely for every block of buildings. You are just a 20 year old from a rural zone in Siberia, have little training, a standard Mosin-Nagant rifle and your orders are to take part in a human wave charge, knowing that if you fall back the commissars will kill you. What are your tactics to avoid getting killed by german superior firepower, and survive another day?
