The last thread was liquidated Chimerica Edition > What's this thread about? As usual this thread is for the discussion and pics of tracked and wheeled AFVs of all kinds from MBTs to supertanks to self propelled AA guns. Please keep it civil and cite sources for statistics. The opportunities for the germination of the Jaguar project likely arose out of Nixon’s policy of diplomatic outreach to the Chinese in the 1970s, and it was in late 1988 that China’s National Machinery Import and Export Corporation announced an intention to jointly develop with Textron Systems a made for export tank. A derivative of the Type 59, it was projected to blend technology from east and west. The Jaguar MBT in fact constituted one of three different commercial military sales offered to China in the 1980s, including Chinook helicopters and Northrop Grumman’s Super-7. However, all of these would be forced into cancellation as a result of the events of 1989 in Tiananmen. The American development crew behind the Jaguar continued regardless, however, even as Chinese investment and their personnel evacuated from the programme. Textron completed a working prototype by 1989, and became a significant technology demonstrator for the firm. The actual componentry and protection behind the Jaguar remain either unknown or classified to this day, but the difference between it and a base Type 59 is likely to have been considerable, especially as the former weighed an extra 6 tonnes. The interior was completely overhauled, with a British Marconi Radar and Control Systems FCS fitted, equipped with image intensification night sights, laser rangefinding and sophisticated enough to engage while moving. Fire suppression, and advanced NBC suite and full stabilisation came par for the course. Despite all efforts, no export orders came, and it was quietly shelved. > Gun Rifled 105 mm M68 > Dimensions (l w h) 9.6 x 3.27 x 2.63 m > Weight 42 tonnes > Engine 750hp diesel > Speed 55 km/h

Bulletproof Vest

Any recommendations for bulletproof vests for daily wear? The ideal would be for something thin, light, affordable, and can be worn under everyday clothing without it being obvious that I'm wearing it. I don't want to attract attention and look like I'm about to go Columbine or like I just stepped off the set of a goofy action movie. I understand that something thinner and lighter won't protect as well, but the way I see it, some protection is better than none. This is my first post to /k/. I did read the sticky, but didn't see anything on vests. I've also been looking at the Ruger SR9 as my first gun. I like the safety features. Thank you, everyone.

Any one else on /k/ tired of all this future bullshit in Call Of Duty? What type of COD do you guys want to see? I want to see a modern warfare era COD, not like the actual modern warfare series, but in current time. Maybe play as the Marines in an Invasion of South Korea but the Norks and fight off the commies in seoul and eventually fight up to pyongyang. Or maybe we fight Iran or some shit cause they attacked israel and trying using nuclear bombs from the nuclear deal obama had with them. What do you guys think?

So how do you think WWI tactics will translate into this game. Will we see the use of authentic tactics or is everyone just going to be running around using Lewis guns as assault rifles and quickscoping each other?

How can russia possibly counter this? The MALD-J is a revolution in air warfare. The US and russia has been in a decades long race between stealth and more sophisticated radras only for the US to do a 180 and increase radar signatures. Fitted with jammers, it makes Home on Jam obsolete and the russian approach with massive expensive missiles unfeasible. What prevents the US from doing victory laps above Kaliningrad and St.Petersburg in a potential conflict, having filled russian radar scopes with hundreds identical and jamming targets? How can vatniks even sleep at night knowing this?

Break-in time

Is break-in actually a thing that any of you have actually experienced? When someone buys a new gun that they're all excited about and it starts jamming like the Smuckers factory, I always hear themselves and others reassure them that it "Just needs to be broken in". In my own personal experience however, I think any gun that I've owned has generally either worked from the factory, or been a "problem child" the whole time I owned it (Barring remedied mechanical failures like weak springs or failed extractors or something like that). Have any of you purchased a new firearm that jammed consistently, but after some use ended up working 100% or near to it? I don't mean that you found the ammo it likes or you fixed a failed part, but just continued use made it work where before it had failed? Two categories where I've been insisted to that this is an actual, true phenomenon are with high end, hand fitted 1911's, and with semi auto shotguns. I don't have experience with either so I'd be especially interested to hear about these. Can anyone chime in here? Again, I'm looking for real world experience, as I've already heard all of the rumor.

Is the Stgw 57 really worth the price of around 300 Swiss Francs? I'm new to guns and I've been wanting to get a battle rifle, but this rifle is pretty obscure and not many people know about it. What does /k/ think of it?

A group of young black women poised to graduate from the United States Military Academy gathered on the steps of West Point’s oldest barracks last week in traditional gray dress uniforms, complete with sabers, for a group photo. Known as an “Old Corps” photograph because it mimics historical portraits, it was nearly identical to thousands that cadets have posed for over the decades, with one key difference: The 16 women raised their clenched fists. http://www.nytimes.com/2016/05/07/us/raised-fist-photo-by-black-women-at-west-point-spurs-inquiry.html?smid=fb-nytimes&smtyp=cur&_r=1
