My son wants to join the military. He seems to suffer from paranoia. Will military service make him worse? He is under the impression more information about the world and competent colleagues will make him more confident in himself, the security apparatus and improve his mental well-being. What do you think?

Bump with your own stories, this just happened tonight. >mention idly at work that I'm going to apply to a well-known lgs, to see if I can work there part-time >nearby coworker complains his application was flat-out rejected 4 times >complains that he can't believe it, since he's already getting his "title three." >"Oh, what are you getting on it?" >"I meant the license. I think I'm just gonna get an AR and a madeuce." >Maybe he just says "license" to scare away soccer moms or something, who knows. >"Dude, that's a crapload of money." >"Nah, it's gonna be 10K, tops." >"... I haven't seen any of those go for less than 50K, where are you getting one for 10?" >"Arizona, they get them all the time, along with those 30-06 miniguns. They get like 10 every year." >"The same ten guns every single time? What?" >gives me a shitty look >"NEW guns, anon." He has to be trolling, right? Nope. He continues to tell me that Miniguns are in 30-06 because M14's and M60's were ALL in 30-06, that we still use 30-06, and .308 apparently was never used in any serious application in the military. When I try to tell him about how the .308 was adopted by NATO, and that .308 is what we started Vietnam with, he counters with this gem: >"What gun did we use in Korea?" >"I believe it was the Garand." >"Which is in?" >"... 30-06." >"Mh-hm. And what's that make the M14?" I didn't even bother answering him.

What are your favorite military uniforms, /k/? Mine is the Red Army m35/40 uniform, especially the generals uniforms, the collar is just so damn awesome. Shame they had to switch to those shitty Tsarist-style uniforms in 1943. Also before anyone says Hugo Boss SS uniforms, just remember that they didn't design it, they just helped produce them.

>go to IHOP with friends before new years because muh funny face pancakes >me, GF, friend, her BF(k), and two other friends >one of the other friends has a boyfriend who owns an "assault rifle" >dont doubt it, that niggas rich as fuck, a drug dealer, affluent family, but a nice guy in general(i dont do drugs) >Other friends boyfriend(k) says >i dont get why people need those >oh no >w-what do you mean? >why do people NEED assault rifles? >avoided asking him to define assault rifle because fuck arguing >well uh theyre really fun to shoot. its not like theyre full auto anyway. >I DOUBT THEY CAN HUNT DEER WITH ONE ITLL DESTROY IT >u-uhh .223 isnt that big, .308 or 30-06 is bigger and used in hunting specific rifles. i mean i don- >AMERICA WHERE I CAN BUY A GUN AND SHOOT UP A MIDDLE SCHOOL WITH IT >nobody wants to be a part of this conversation >his gf talks about stronger gun laws stopping crime >just silently sip my hot coco, thinking i had smarter friends than this. this kid talks so much shit its unbelievable. Boasting about being a 'health nut", meaning tight t shirts and curlz 4 gurlz. he called my track car a "boat" whilst he drives his dads civic SI how was I supposed to handle this? or this loser in general? id rather not argue but hes wearing down my patience

How difficult is it to actually behead a man in a single chop? I understand that executioners in the medieval ages did it, but in the context of a battle or a fight, if you've got a sword or an axe, can a strong-but-ultimately-normal person behead someone with a really good swing, or do you need like Schwarzenegger levels of strength?

I caught the scent of something. I sniffed out that 9x25 dillon had 90 grain projectiles somewhere. Projectiles that get 2100fps in a 5.5" barrel. I fail to find where they are sold. This must be a handload right? I'm drooling over the idea of a lighter 9mm doing the .22tcm speeds. If you know where, tell me so I can document and file it into my "to get" list.

What does /k/ think of combat tourism? >combat tourism is the act of traveling to a war zone and participating in the ongoing conflict with the purpose of fighting in a war driven by idealism, while having no ethical connection to the country where the battle takes place, nor he/she is part of an armed forces deployed in the combat zone. I personally think that the person going to ''combat tourist'' has no idea what war actually is or what to expect. I think such persons may even deserve to get wounded so that they will get a fresh wake up call. Examples; >Mujaheddin in recent conflicts and history (pic related >Cossacks in the Transnistria conflict >Most foreign SS volunteers, which were no veterans during the early stages of WW II (Fresh recruits) >Christian fighters in the SLA during the Lebanese civil war
