Can we talk about how the Empire completely fucked up the Battle of Hoth? First off, Admiral Ozzle did not come out of Hyperspace too close. He correctly predicted that the Rebels knew they were coming, and wanted to jump in right on top of them to cut off any escape. Instead of sending bombers to destroy the shield generator, Vader sends in slow Walkers. And, finally, the whole point of destroying the shield generators was to allow for a heavy orbital bombardment to commence. Vader makes this impossible by personally landing and entering the base, making destroying the shield generator a moot point. In short, the Empire had a chance to wipe out the Rebellion once and for all and completely botched the job. Tarkin would't have allowed that to happen. He kept Vader on a short leash, but with him gone, Vader could do as he pleased and proceeded to fuck everything up.

Canada thread. I am not Canadian (I am American) but I get a huge, non-ironic smile every-time I see a Canadian Patriot. I don't forget the effort your military put(s) in over-seas either.
Good friends, you Canadians.
Any Canadian military /k/ommandos on right now? Or just general gun-owning Canadian Patriots.
Is displaying the flag, having pride in Canada, etc. considered a bit faux-pax like it is in parts of Europe, or is it looked at in a similar way as it is in the USA?

In far-off future space combat, what weapons do you think would be most effective in space for one-man space fighters?
Keeping in mind that many fights will be taking from extreme distances, from enemy ships being light-seconds apart, and only closing in during the twilight stages of the battle.
What is your opinion on lasers? Particle beams? Guided missiles and rockets? I would imagine the concussive blast of a missile would be greatly reduced in space, so how would they have to be redesigned to compensate? And if given enough energy, how about magnetic accelerator cannons? What about countermeasures? Flares? Chaff? ect?
Yeah, I know some will come on here to lecture me about how war in space of any type is highly unlikely, blah blah. Let's just talk about the best loadout you would want to give a single-man space fighter.

Visitor from /n/ here. We have a..well loved poster who is a bit special but with a good heart. Honestly we're not really sure what's up with him but he's cool so we tolerate his randomness. Also the guy does long distance rides on a recumbent bike with hand pedals so you have to respect his commitment (think he's disabled as well).
Anyway, he was posting random pics and included his reload kit, pic related.
So, what's the deal with using firework squibs for detonators, is that safe/effective/fucked up?
