I'm pretty sure all the other bolt-actions used by the major nations at the time were superior to the Carcano.

The Lee-Enfield had dat firing rate, the Mauser had brilliant accuracy going for it, the Mosin wasn't too bad itself and the Arisaka's chamber strength was unparalleled.

Mauser was smoothest.

Arisaka was strongest.

MAS-36 was the quirkiest.

Mosin wasn't particularly good at anything. (sorry, slavaboos)

But that's wrong. The Mosin was a pretty good all around rifle, and excelled in the cold. Also, when you take into account the time and cost to make a Mosin compared to the other rifles, you could argue that it was objectively the best.

I own one, Its not that great. I would MAYBE put it on par with a Mosin.

Underrated as fuck. Its light, the bolt is almost as fast as an SMLE and the whole thing is simple as shit. Ammo is a bit hard to find, but frankly, its an excellent round

Schmidt Rubin Model 1889 shits on any WWII bolt action.

7.5 French is a slightly slower and smaller .308 from what I heard, so it's pretty good.

It's the exact same bullet diameter (though traditional loading is 10gr lighter) and travels at roughly the same velocity. Theoretically it can be loaded hotter than the 308 because it has a larger case capacity.

I'm comparing the two, seems pretty identical except for the overall length and the maximum pressure.
