So did the speaker die at the end of The Raven? I thought he was just depressed and nothing could lift him from that depression, but people are telling me I'm wrong. What's the answer here /lit/?

Holy fucking shit, have you guys seen Michel Houellebecq recently? What happened? He looks like he's aged 20 years in the past year.

So if any of us ever gets pretty famous with our writing are you going to hide the fact that you browse this board, are you going to let it be an open secret, etc. Personally if I were to ever get on a talk show or something, I'd definitely let it slip that this website was pretty great so it would be flooded with normalfags just to mess you guys.

What do you think is the "best" book about the Internet? I nominate pic related, it's the only one that's actually well researched (by a guy in his 70s, no less!). There's a lot of typical Pynchon weirdness and it's all broken with three layers of irony, but I think it's one of the few things that captures how the Internet's culture works. Other contenders could be: Stephenson's REAMDE, even though in the middle it becomes a "standard" novel with terrorists and whatnot Gibson's Neuromancer: IMHO overtaken by reality, hasn't aged well at all Ready Player One: Man-childish as hell, more about 80s culture than anything else ???

~~~~~~The Necromancer~~~~~~ The curse came to life once more: a potent side-effect of an incantation gone foul long ago. A pulverizing wind of hail and snow howled outside his decaying cabin. He felt a force surround his body, it pressed upon him from all sides. Instantly his legs went numb and began to move on their own. His left hand convulsed then his face twitched and shifted. His right hand shot instinctively towards the wand in his cloak. But to what end? He knew the curse was beyond the darkest forces he could summon to dispel it. "All those centuries spent communing with undead spirits, sacrificing virgins and destroying nameless heroes only to be shackled by my own magic?" He thought to himself pitifully and eyed a vial of nightshade poison. Rat-tat-tat banged a sound on the door. His legs twirled and carried him towards it. Upon opening the door he was face to face with a group of burly dwarves, grinning smugly at him. He struggled to gain control of his body one last time; he gritted his teeth and fought with all his necromantic powers to no avail. “Time to pay your debt” they said in unison. He bowed his head and kneeled before them. They threw a heavy wolf skin sack at his feet. He picked it up and moved through the blinding snow like an automata. Moments later he felt himself pulled through the misty mountains in chilling vortex. A red light flickered ahead of him. He wanted to yell in terror at what was to come but all that escaped from his lips was a ho and a ho and a ho. --------------------------------------------------------------------
Hey Philosophers: what is it that you know that no one else does??
Should I read it or should I not read it? The only way of knowing if it's good and/or if I like or enjoy it, obviously, would be reading it. Then again, my prejudicial nature is trying to set a stable opinion derived from other people's experiences with the book. From what I've gathered so far the ratings vary from "absolute garbage" to "genius", and since there wasn't a thread about it... here is one combining my doubts in the form of what I just asked you.
You guys wanna talk about this movie? I've watched it a few times and I haven't been this interested in a movie in a long time, I think it's really a very important movie for "millennials" and an incredible movie in itself. /tv/ is so unbearably bad please. I vomited some of my thoughts up the last time I watched it and I've been periodically adding to it and cleaning it up, will post that if there's interest
